FLounge 6am to 10pm SYD for under $100?

Me and mates were talking yesterday and it was postulated that you could have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the FLounge (if OWE) for less than $100.

QFF suggests you can get to DPS one way for 20.3k points one way.

Also, a $100 Woolworths Wish card is 21,820 pts.

Just “miss the flight” and stay until they close.

Exit immigration and over to the Rydges for a sleep :)

Thoughts?
I think that’s not far off the mark. Without baggage you could enter early, but I suspect you’d be asked to leave once the DPS is boarding. So maybe not dinner.

Of course you could always just go to Bali!

can't remember the last time (if ever) ive been asked for my flight number by the wait staff. I've only pro-activly brought it up if I'm in a hurry to get a quick bite before running down to the gate.

Yes, both have occurred but not regularly.

Y'all have never watched those airport reality shows if you think everybody who has checked in makes it to the gate before the flight closes.

How many flights have you been on where xx_X has failed to board? It has always surprised me how often this happens (during the day).

Yes, well that was my point.

Not all of them are drunk, but I bet some of them are!

Oh, and I forgot all the massages :-) (jk)

Border force wouldnt care if you missed your flight, peoples plans can change and theyve got better things to do.
And they can’t refuse an Australian citizen entry…

Yes, its a freighter 772F, interesting this is on a pax board and not other freighters. Maybe it's considered a pax service?

Regardless it needs to be out before 11.

Nope. Curfew doesn't apply to freight.

OP/this thread is obviously not serious, but on that note, as a thought experiment, how much food/drink does one have to consume to break even?

20 300 points, worth say 2c each, = $406, $128 taxes, trnasport to/from airport (cheapest - off peak train fare $3.79 one - way from a station <10km Wolli Creek then walk to airport) = $541.58.

Food value (being very generous here)- S&P squid/entree ~ $20, main $30, dessert, $15, glass of NV champagne $20, coffee $5, total about $90 max.

Gotta do it 6 times to break even. 🤢

Or alcohol alone - Taittinger about 7 bottles, Piper Heidsieck, at least 11 bottles.

Mates and discussing how to rip QFF off?… def not serious…

Which confirms my point being that you could easily spend the day in the F Lounge boozing it up wihtout having to explain which flight you were on to the wait staff, which is what the OP was getting at.
The only time you are asked for your BP is at reception (and maybe at the Spa, i haven't visited for a few years), you are not asked at the restaurant or generally lounging per se. So if you successfully checked in with your $100 SYD-DPS BP with the intention of missing the flight and staying the whole day/night in the lounge, it's entirely possible IMHO.

yep, but the difference is that you'd have scanned into the lounge with your BP so in theory they (QF) know where you are (o should be). half those airport shows it's usually bogans pissed in an in terminal bar... but yes it happens.

my only other thought is that say your flight is at 21:35 ad you checked in (online i guess) and go to the F lounge say 12 hours before for breakfast - wouldn't that raise a eyebrow? now maybe staff on the desk wouldn't notice, or maybe wouldn't care, but I'm sure some would be eagle eyed to think "Hold on that's twelve hours away...." - now I guess there's nothing stopping you being there twelve hours early but I'm sure it would raise an eyebrow. Certainly with staff doing the same pax dine for breakfast.. go, come back to dine for lunch etc. sure, in a big lounge like syd I guess "oh delayed" or whatever but still....

Anyway I've been asked for flight details most times. Or I just have my BP with me on the table with I sit so they can see.

Frankly this is where those (rare) JQ tag flights (or QF5/9 tags) come into their own since you could fly on a domestic flight, use the lounge and well not leave the country physically - and you wouldn't deal with any of these issues.

Used the Woolies Wish card $100 as the starting point.
21,820 points for $100 gift card = 10,000 cents.

21820/10000 = 2.18c per point.
20,300x2.18= $97 (rounded)

you never scan out of the FLounge though.

And how long / how many staff do you think QF will allocate to find a sole passenger who has failed to board, without baggage?

Not long, and 1 gusting 0 I'd say.

Used the Woolies Wish card $100 as the starting point.
Using SYD-LAX $12000 in J return
Equivalent routing using FF redemption = 216800
That's about 18 points per $

In your example of 20k points = $100
That's 200 points per $

Another way to look at it is you are spending 1/10 of the points needed for a SYD-LAX return in business class for entry into FLounge.
1/10 of $12000 = $1200
I would rather go to Aria for that

I know where I would rather spend my Points.

You got your numerator/denominator mixed up.

In redeeming a $100 gift card for 21 820, you're getting 10 000/21820 = 0.458cents per point of value.

But by all means, its a free country.

of course they don't scan out. My point was in relation to those reality shows where half the time they don't know where the pax are. At least if you were supposed to be on flight X and you'd scanned into the lounge, it's a fair bet you might still be there.. again this was only in relation to the "drunk passengers miss flight" bit - not to do with the main thread comment.. and no, QF would page and page and offload sure. They may try calling I guess. After all it is pax responsibility to show up for their flight and if they don't.. well that's on them. not suggesting QF (or any airline) would care that much except that they'd at least have a data point of scanning into a lounge.

What about booking an award to Norfolk Island? That’s like what 12,000 points and gives you access to international terminal. You could also book a domestic flight departing the international terminal like whatever the QF service to PER is these days
