MEL based VA Gold, will be flying back on AA metal LAX to SYD this coming weekend, and currently booked a VA ticket last flight of the day.
Being a Gold and Flex (economy) ticket, fly ahead seems like the way to go unless I would like to spend another day wandering in SYD city?
Question, since I have checked in bag, I will need to discuss the fly ahead options at check-in counter. Is this something available at SYD international arrival, or I will need to drag my bags all the way to domestic terminal (some T bus or $5 train) to sort it out there?
I was still Platinum a month or two ago, but after downgraded won't be able to use the phone service to request unfortunately.

There is a VA counter once you clear immigration and customs that would let you check in and drop your bad. Depending on your arrival time it may or may not be open.

AA73 arr most days at 9am, SYD - MEL has got several flights a day, unless there are more than 1 AA flight from LAX - SYD.
Guess if they have any open slots in the arr timeframe in J/Y on the sat/sun/mon when you arr into SYD.

Updates here:
AA73 landed at SYD about 7:50am, but the baggage collection took a good while until 8:40ish.
Smoothly passed through custom check, turn left, at Virgin transfer counter. The very kind check in lady there moved my flight to 10am. Thank you so much! (Forget to ask for her name)

I’m on the transfer bus now, feel like I still got a chance to get a flat white from the lounge :)
