Fly ahead on points upgraded getaway fare?

Hi, are upgraded (to business) domestic getaway fares still considered as getaway fares if trying to fly ahead to the earlier flight?

There answer to this is yes it's still considered a getaway fare. You are not eligible to fly ahead.

That's because fly ahead is based on the fare basis and upgrading doesn't change the fare basis.

henrus is correct. However if you were to go to the airport and ask, you never know...

Actually, I have it on good authority (Lounge staff) that in practice, if the booking has been upgraded to Business Class, a fly ahead is permitted. After all, they are now dealing with a Business Class traveller and if there are seats available on a earlier flight, why not make a J class pax happy?

Yes it still exists, however as frequencies on most routes are less than before it's not quite as helpful right now.
