Hi Guys,

First time flying F on this leg as lucky to score it on points.
Just wondering
1. at TBIT - are they pretty strict on guest to F lounge must be on the same flight? no longer a plat so cant guest as easily. I guess will try my luck?
2. failing 1, how much is a ticket into the F lounge or is that available?
3. Chauffeur transfer is a bit disappointing isnt it? havent looked at it for a long time and it really has been crippled almost completely!
4. any other tips for the flight would be awesome.

Thanks in adv :)

1) No, not in my experience as WP F pax travelling on both QF and OW metal. Guest has always been on QF. Doesn't mean they won't be with you.
2) No paid option into the F lounge, ever.
3) Chauffeur drive was removed maybe 4 years ago?
4) If you want to beat jetlag, don't go to sleep at midnight LA time. Try and stay up for a good few more hours at least and adjust to Australian time. Difficult because they turn the lights off quickly.

thanks mate. i no longer have wp but will be flying F. wp allows any guest on qf but F says need to be on the same flight not just qf. so wasnt sure if rules bend there frequently.

thanks for the sleeping tips. thats exactly what i usually do.

ps va inflight wifi on long haul is painfully slow but at least can post this

They are strict, but no harm in asking. Unfortunately the evening is peak lounge attendance.

Have you had a turnback before?

Just realised an error in my previous post - if flying OW F then the same flight rule does not apply.

Interesting if they are actual guesting refusals. As opposed to non-F/OWE thinking they have access.

i've been denied entry as QF WP flying AA J because the lounge was full of F/J/WP/OWE's on QF Metal. The F Lounge at LAX seems to prioritize those on QF Metal before members on OW flights.

I'll just answer your fourth point and say enjoy it! It will be the reduced menu so just order food and drink wine. If you're not going to sleep then I'd ask the crew if any of the main meals can be held over for a bit of a snack during the flight rather than the pretty poor alternative; the only caveat to that is I do that as a P1 and the ex-LAX crews can sometimes be a bit ... shall we say not accommodating (I'm saying that purely from experience when lower than P1 if any of my flight attendant friends are reading this :p)

The lounge will almost certainly be busy but the F cabin will be good.

thanks guys. will see if i can guest my friend in. hope they dont notice the flight number difference and will settle for qf ia good enough.

Let us know how it goes with the guesting. The turn backs I’ve seen while waiting in queue (and overheard in some cases) suggest that it is not possible but no harm in asking

will know in a few days

They can refuse anyone including for reasons of space.
Already known, however the important reason is why - and if it is solely due to the same flight rule. The only way to know the truth is to listen in on the conversation. In every instance.

As you are flying on a OW F flight you are entitled to one guest who is flying on a OW operated and marketed flight

So it didnt really pan out. Didnt have to guest someone in. So asked the question re: same QF flight vs just any QF flight. Was told it would have been ok either way. But who knows if someone actually had to come in.... ? maybe i should have found some random stranger to guest in and see... ;)

there's a story here as to why it didn't pan out ;) *nosy*
