I can’t recall when I signed up but I finally received the status. Has probably been about 4 weeks. Trouble is, my loyalty lies elsewhere :p

@nightelves, I just remembered something else which might help your situation if I am reading your situation correctly. The full gold tacks on to the end of the explore gold. This is irrespective of when you earn the 80 SC to get the full gold.

So effectively you get 3 months explore and then at the end of that if you have earned 80SCs at any time in the 3 months you then get upgraded to full gold for a year.

So the only way to extend it is to delay the date you actually get awarded the explore gold. (which is obviously dependant on when you apply for card, and then earn the 20k flybuys, and how long it takes virgin to upgrade you)

Oh really. So let's say I earn Explorer gold and have gotten the 80SC. The full gold won't kick in until my Explorer gold finishes? If so that is awesome!

Dammit if that's the case I might have to find a way of extending the status a bit longer.
From my understanding Explore Gold is a little different. Your status is reviewed exactly 3 months after moving to it. It doesn't matter if you achieve the 80 SCs and 1 sector in the first week or the last week of that 2 month period. Nor does it matter what you earn during that time as long as it hits the minimum.

As others have also stated, any missing points claims are back dated to the date the flights were taken.

I'm not sure what to make of VA

They seem to be pretty unorganised/IT department is in disarray/understaffed/huge workload, or....who knows what...

Ticked over the Explorer Gold assessment date, over a week ago - still in assessment mode. I thought that technology was meant to make things faster/easier?

It's worked like that ever since the current system of status levels came in. Usually a two week period/

My explorer gold status should have come to an end on 9 September (I earned no status points in the 3 month period) but it hasn't which was a blessing a week ago when I had 2 hours to kill in MEL on an amex redeemed flight. I'll report back when it finally expires. Are these 'extensions' common?

I had the same expiry date (9th of September) and also didn't meet the status points requirement. It said "under review" (or something like that) for a week or two, then dropped back to Silver yesterday.

Just checked my account and I too dropped to Silver on the same day as you. Just realised it comes with 2 lounge visits which beats a poke in the eye. Not sure I'll get to use it but it's good to know it's there.

Hi Everyone,

Just received my Explore Gold card, did anyone else get the bag tags with it as well? Or do I have to wait until I'm full gold. Thanks

No bag tags. Just the card. Did receive a silver tag when the 90 days expired.

Data point. Despite my account saying Silver (as of 23 Sep) I checked into a flight today and my boarding pass still said Gold enabling me to use the lounge.

I had 326 status credits before the explore gold offer. My status has reset to 0 status credits. Has anyone had their old status credits reappear if they don't qualify for maintaining gold?

Mrs deva got her explore gold status as soon as the first credit card statement came through. Don't know if that was a coincidence or not...

Hmm....so close hey?

The required 70 SC's were earned within the first month of the explorer Gold promo and the Virgin Gold requirement was easily crossed....
