Flying to London on Q

Another newbie question, but how do you know which plane is associated with which flight?

The airline web site usually tells you, either under their timetable section, or subscribe to expertflyer.com

Mind you, aircraft replacements do happen, so it is not guaranteed.

Hit the flight number icon - a page will pop up with all sorts of detail including type of plane and seat map - welcome to AFF :p

I have been advised on 3 separate occasions now that QF cabin crew salary rates are higher on the 747 than the A380 which is why most long serving crews (20+ years service) opt for the former and in my experience the service is better on the 747, even though the equipment is inferior.

More useless info; - 2 QF flight crews have told me independently that A380 VH-OQA is "haunted" (by Nancy Bird Walton?) and often performs uncommanded actions - i.e. lights all go out, IFE stops!! This is the aircraft that blew an engine out of Singapore a year ago and led to the temporary grounding of the fleet. In reality as an early production aircraft it probably just has teething problems, or it could be a "lemon".
