Flying with a cold

I flew in J internationally with undiagnosed/untreated whooping cough. Felt bad till my dr told me about one of his patients who'd been setting next to a pax in J with Ebola.

Ok, so great news. I wake up today with a cold and I'm flying. My worst worst nightmare.

What tips do you have for flying with a cold?

Well it's actually my worst nightmare. I really don't want to catch what you've got.

It could kill me.

So just don't fly.

Flew HNL-SYD with undiagnosed glandular fever mid last year, Luckily i had 2 seats to myself in the last row of the plane (strategic move paid off). I felt like death warmed up the whole flight and one of the FA was so worried about me he wanted to call an ambulance to meet me OA in SYD. Went to the doc the next day and confirmed Glandular Fever and she said she was surprised i survived the flight.

Next time i'd just cancel the flight and wait until i felt better to fly.

Try taking Olive Leaf capsules (Nature's Way) and Echinacea plus garlic zinc and Vit C tablets (Nature's Way) morning and night. Will help keep the nasal passages open and stop the sinuses getting infected. I prefer these to Sudafed (palpitations). I fly every second week and this is what works for me plus the Fess nasal spray and Fess Nasal Gel. Such a palaver but when you find something that works...........
Good luck

DO NOT TAKE ECHINACEA WHEN YOU ARE ALREADY SICK!

Echinacea increases your white blood cell count, which is good while you're not sick, but when you're already sick, it will make you feel even worse.

1.Ear Planes
2.Pseudoephedrine contaning cold tablet ( you might get the 3rd degree by the pharmacist - just doing their job ) Make sure you don't have high blood pressure or heart problems. Let the pharmacist know.
3. When blowing your nose , keep one nostril closed and the other open , then alternate. Some people try popping their ears by holding both nostrils closed and end up worst off.
4. Nasal spray eg. Drixine, Otrivin or like.
5.drink plenty of fluids ( water ) this keeps the mucous from thickening

Pharmacist checking in here ;) Also ensure you are not pregnant or possibly pregnant.
