In a few weeks I'll be flying Syd - Mel for one night to see the Grand Prix. It will be the first time I have flown with carry-on only for an overnight trip.
If I have read the QF website correctly, I will be able to take both a small roll-on case and a small backpack. Is this right?
Also, are there any common toiletry items that I will not be able to take through security? I normally chuck any doubtful items into my checked bag.

Yes you are allowed a domestic rollaboard and a personal item( small bag/pack etc).
There are no LAG restrictions for domestic flights but you must take aerosols out of bag for separate screening.

That is for international flights; not most Qantas domestic Jet services.

You are correct; permitted for Qantas domestic jet services are up to two 105cm bags weighing up to 7kg each.

However, if using this to the full I recommend being at the gate when boarding commences and boarding as soon as you are allowed.

I have always had to take aerosols out of my carry on bad (and any umbrella) at domestic security screening
