This morning I came across something delightful in the VA SYD lounge: the food was properly labelled, including there most common diets & allergies. Way to go! What took them so long???

Generally, it seemed that the lounge operators are very slack in this regard. But where else have you come across good labelling instead of guessing game or begging the staff for information?

I live for the day that Australia follows the UK allergy laws. As soon as you mention you have an allergy you get someone out with the book of all the meals of what you can and can't have

We were in the virgin OOL lounge and there were no lactose free options at all. Not to mention anything else if you had other food intolerances.
A few months ago I asked them about it. They keep them hidden behind the counter to save them for those who need them. I got a load of sweet stuff after asking for something for dessert.

The AY Schengen lounge in HEL has been the best surprise. Their GF plate was much more appetising than what was available for the mainstream.

Though, I'd love if you didn't need to ask for it but there are too many who can't help themselves unnecessarily and it forces the operators to safeguard the goodies.
