Food Photographs

My wife chastises me about the photos on my camera/phone. She looks through them and just shakes her head. And no, they do not involve food, or aircraft, or people.

Thanks one & all for your replies, what I like in this forum is in the majority of posts you can have so many differing opinions, some that agree with your own, others that don't, and each can have logical arguments. As for those that have tried to educate me :) I appreciate your arguments however I am unconverted. Don't get me wrong I appreciate food, in fact I am a keen cook willing to attempt different dishes. Some have turned out good, some fantastic (and that is from third parties not my own opinion) and other recipes are confined to the bin. But have I ever been tempted to photograph any of my own endeavours...................no!

I don't take photos of my own efforts either even if some times my curries are really good.
Other's efforts though.

For me it's for the memories. I occasionally look back at pictures from previous trips and pictures of the food helps me remember the details of everything that happened that day.

Once you take a five hour First Class flight in the USA, and all you get served to eat is a small bowl of nuts, you learn to appreciate why food photos are important in trip/airline reports!

I love food so will generally be taking a photo for my own benefit. My trip reports are littered with food photos. Eating is a huge part of the travel experience for me. I put up detailed food reports for high end restaurants because, if they cost a lot of money to go to, people usually want as much detail as possible to determine if they want to spend their money there.

Yes but I told you why I do it in Post 17.

Prince Edward Island in September for the Fall Food Festival, tell Mrs Drron lots of mussels to be consumed. Enough photos on the web site, don't need individuals to post what is already available. If that's what you like doing who am I to argue about your point of view even though it differs from mine. I probably won't post a picture of my plate plied with seafood, but then again :)

I find it's relatively easy to get an idea about airline catering if you're just getting the regular meals - plenty of websites have photos of the lounge and onboard menus. However for those of us with dietary restrictions and food allergies that need to get the special meals, it's almost impossible to find out what you'll be getting served. I have to order a VGML, and I make a point of posting photos of them all on my blog. I never get the fancy dining options in J or F that everyone else gets, I get served what I get served. I would have found it beneficial to have an idea about these things in advance in the past. Now I know from experience which airlines can actually cater for me, which ones are hit and miss, and which ones to simply avoid. In a way, I see it as a community service to provide that information to others :)
