Its actually a C47, I flew on her in 1970

Long lost mate of mine had one years ago under Rebel Air out of Kingsford Smith, got inebriated many times flying to Hunter Valley vineyards and Mel Grand Prix, was rather glad when Bill moved it on.

There was another DC3 sitting out in open at Cairns (old dom.) now regional & small aircraft facility.

Look here Extant DC-2 and DC-3 Aircraft in Australia and New Zealand
in 2009 6 of DC3/C47 were out up for auction by slatteryauctions.com.au. IIRC were withdrawn before auction
From the web site above note 25
Discovery Air Tours (formerly Dakota National Air) went into administration on 16FEB04 but as of 25JUN04 are still operating with VH-DNA, VH-MIN and VH-SBL. DC-3s VH-BPN, VH-PWN and VH-UPQ are stored at the Australian Aviation Museum at Bankstown. DC-3 P2-001, which was to become VH-DNF, is still stored at Warnervale, NSW where it diverted with engine problems on its delivery flight from Papua New Guinea.

Six Discovery Air Tours DC-3s are to be sold at auction on 25MAR09. Aircraft listed are:
VH-BPN, VH-DNA, VH-DNF, VH-MIN, VH-PWN#2 and VH-SBL. All aircraft were passed in and no sales eventuated. See Issue #47.

SBL used to operate on a regular basis ex Bankstown, on of the tower controllers flew her in his spare time - hi Hoppy if you are reading this !

Is this the one Bear Grylls jumped out of? He said it didn't look airworthy!

And this one is in the Maccas at Taupo-

I don't think that will fit in my garage. Or the back yard for that matter!

Any ideas how much something like this would go for?

And don't you just love the Warehouseman's LEAN... Did he get tired of storing it?

There is another DC3 at Mareeba in FNQ, saw it at the annual air show (fantastic day out it is), best they could do was start up the old the donks as plane was not airworthy by any means. The dedicated band of guys n gals spend years doing up old aircraft there.

Stuff the kids cubby house. I was thinking more of a mans cubby house/retreat.

Bar, snooker table, plasma TV. Surround sound. Wife lock!
