A TASMANIAN car hire franchise that ripped off customers by overcharging them for damage to vehicles has been fined $200,000. Europcar franchise BAJV Pty Ltd had customers pay one price for repairs and then got the repairs done at a cheaper price, the Federal Court has found.
Between December 2006 and February 2012 the company had repairers produce two invoices - one with the cost of repairs for their own records and the other with the higher price to show customers or their insurers, the court heard.

Good to see they received a considerable fine and the franchise was terminated. Hopefully that will reduce the number of car rental issues in Tasmania and Australia.

I wonder if the repairers would be prosecuted for fraudulent conduct?
