G'day all, first post - infrequent past lurker here.

Just checked in for a QF domestic flight tomorrow and there are two passenger names available to me to check in. I entered the web check-in via FF log-in => my reservations =>

Never heard of the other person.

System checked us both in and provided me with boarding passes for us both - giving me access on the boarding passes to her QF FF number (bronze).

Took screen shots of process and I have saved and printed boarding passes. I hope she likes the seat I chose for her. (I think given my PS status she got access to an exit window seat - but allocated).

My res is one-way red deal purchassed online last week directly on QF website. When I use separate browser to enter the reservation (not logged in as FF) via the PNR and her last name it gives error - so we are not on same PNR.

Not good confidentiality control by QANTAS. Where too from here... Not a fan of ACA or TDT idiocies. (Some compensation to her and I from QF would be nice though!!!)

[Also - forum feedback: as an infrequent visitor I can't remember your community acronyms which are creative and fun but non-intuitive. Any chance of including the link to the acronyms in the above list of quick-links? Even better too would be a stand-alone non-dynamic html page or a pop-up - rather than buried somewhere within a thread as it is at the moment:-

(Okay insiders - start shouting now - just offering perspective from a non cognescenti... fwiw!) ]

Would you not call QF to sort this one out?

It seems like a bug (It has happened before I think?).

I do not think it is right that you are selecting seats for this second person.

I think I'd be on the phone to QF straight away. If you can see someone else's booking can they see yours?

ISTR someone else having had this happen to them (JohnK perhaps?)

It could be a linked booking but qantas res attached to your booking rather than a booking with the same surname.

Why would you check this person in?

Doesn't the kiosk & online process ask you to select which passengers you want to check in?

Did you check the box saying you aren't carrying Any dangers goods and other thinks that aren't meant to fly? Proabley not a good idea.

The QF call centre proabley wouldn't understand what your trying to say, but I'd try calling them and Facebook/tweet/other social media them. If not, bring it up at the airport.

Very strange indeed.

I have heard of a few cases where pax have been booked at the same time in the one booking eg by an employer as it's quicker for them to do one booking. Sometimes these employees don't know each other.

I've seen it with Defence where a group of people might be travelling to the same destination to attend a training course.

As you mentioned you made your own booking yourself and the other person had a different pnr, the scenario in the first paragraph does not apply.

It sounds as though your bookings have been linked somehow which could happen if maybe the other traveller was trying to link her booking with someone who had a similar name to yours. Something's gone awry somewhere though.

Hmmm - I must have missed that - bugger! Unless I was bemused and wanted to know if it would actually let me check her in....?

Should I sit in her seat and then when she asks me to move present her with her own boarding pass as evidence I'm in the right place. Or board using her pass?

Wait - keep your nickers on people! I'm just joking, okay! Alternative humorous suggestions welcome.

And if you are NB and flying QF domestic tomorrow are you nervous this is you? (And if so, where have you seated me in revenge?!)

I logged into QFF account last year and had someone else's account pop up, apparently I had 600k points and was heading to Hong Kong in J the following day!

Cleared cookies and it all went away.

I hope you are from Melbourne so I can buy you a beer for the laughs you have just given me! Keep it up :)

Alarming indeed, but with all large organizations errors happen now and then, human and system.

Perhaps this is like the movies. Fate, and the mystery woman is your soul mate.

Wait till as late as possible - then move her to back of plane (preferably by the loos and after ordering her a vegan meal!) ensuring you get an empty seat next to you ;)

At first glance I thought that a bit cruel, but then if you were a vegan with an incontinence problem it would be ideal!

I think it could be a new Q promo, for single travellers they send an extra attractive FA to sit with you on the flight to keep you company.

Sounds good, only if they're poached/outsourced from VA :)
