I have had amex for over 9 years,

Thanks for the input. My income is around 85k.

How long have you had the $1450 Charge Card though? The nine years, or just more recently?

If recent, was your income over the required $100K, or around $85k with a higher figure stated on the application?.

Called back amex immediately and been told to provide ID, proof of address, payslip & bank statement.

The last two would suggest to me that they were seeking to verify what your income is.

I just reviewed that thread and the OP mentions their card was stolen with a $2000 spend. Maybe AMEX thinks the card wasn't stolen?

Has a post been deleted? I cannot now see any reference to the card being stolen, the $2000 spend and concerns about the card in August.

Like I don't want to seem like I'm doubting OP at all, it's just that I'm trying to wrap my head around the series of events which lead to the want to punch out of providing income verification to Amex after paying a significant amount of money in annual fees.

As long as we provide accurate information and we give correct numbers in application , there is nothing much at stake.

Having said that , there have been instances when people have mentioned that they got away with Amex credit card application though they did not meet the minimum requirements. Off late all the big 4 banks have started reporting to credit agencies and it's all out there for everyone to see. I am also a plat charge card hold and have paid $1450 but I completely understand if the bank wants to verify the income details provided in my application to ascertain there has been no miscommunication.

I'm sure I had read in the past of a few AMEX cardholders who were reviewed after, and I dare to use this term not knowing if it even exists, a "soft pull" of credit information from credit provider(s). That is, there seems to be an ongoing subscription of information that AMEX recieves about the creditworthiness of their customers, as I had seen reports (mainly from US cardholders) of AMEX performing a FR after they applied for additonal cards.

Perhaps CCR information may be involved? Pure speculation, but the last year has brought significant changes in visibility of credit history for Australians and I could see how this could potentially trigger reviews if the information wasn't favourable.
