Hi all,

I am leaving Frankfurt on Jan 8 to return to Australia. I will be getting to the airport at 7pm-ish for the late night departing QF6 flight home.

I have no status for lounge access. So I have been looking to buy a pass for the 3-4 hours that I need to kill. However, the only thing I can find online is the sky club lounge. This lounge, however, closes at 8pm. Also, it doesn't have any snacks...

Does anyone have any experience with this? I am not looking for a shower or alcohol. Just a place where there are a few magazines to read, chairs to relax in, some nibbles, TV. Obviously I am looking for something that would be open until 2300 or midnight, and would be happy to spend $30-40 for such a lounge.

Can anyone recommend a lounge that will accept a paying customer that fits this profile?

Many thanks

I realise that you are looking for a paid lounge. Sorry to say I can't help.

But personally, I wouldn't bother with a lounge. Based on my experience of the QP there, which is some shared lounge with Cathy P (or something) and it is pretty bad. My experiences with taking QF6 is that the hot water has run out, the snacks are not much more than peanuts and basic drinks.

I'd recommend using the food area upstairs above the check in desks. They have a decent pub/bar there serves typical german fare and has decent weissbier.

No doubt someone else will recommend a decent lounge.

Yes, Qantas share the Cathay lounge at FRA, and it is not great. It is always crowded (hard to find a seat usually), food is poor, but there are 2 self-serve bars (not a great selection of wine, but I am usually ready for a G&T at that time). There are only 2 PCs, and they are always being used, but there is free wireless access. The only reason I use it is for the shower, as I always end up there after a full day of work/travel. The showers are not great, and you often have to queu for them, but I have never had a problem with the hot water.

In regard to the OP, I agree they would be better off just going to the food area, as I'm sure they could purchase magazines, food and drink for less than the $30-40 they are willing to pay for a lounge. I have never found pay as you go lounges good for much other than a shower.

My issue with the cold water in the shower was probably a one off. Basically, got there late, maybe an hour before QF6 departure, so we were about the last in the lounge and everyone had already showered. I was then also last to shower out of the 5 in our group. The shower attendant basically said that the hot water normally runs out in this situation.
