Apologies if I have missed any but I think that’s a fairly decent cross section of properties and I would say nearly every single stay I’ve been offered 12pm as a minimum at check in with about 60% offering me complimentary 2pm. If they haven’t offered it and I need it I will ask and very, very rarely have I been knocked back

Please tell my daughter and family that. They use AirBnb regularly and they have been travelling the world full time for 7 years. They are currently fluctuating between Türkiye and Bulgaria.

Often you can get better deals in resorts where owners of rooms offer better rates.
They throw in wine and snack / lunch packs at times. You speak to a real person not a robot behind a counter.

Not sure what your meaning of serious travellers are.

If you mean corporate - we are definitely not allowed to use AirBNB for a few reasons including risk, safety and also that the provider can cancel your booking pretty much anytime as well if they want.

I've just stayed at an Ibis Budget and noticed that most suburban ones in Sydney & Melbourne have a standard check in time of 12:00pm. I'm curious as to how they can offer such an early check in time.

Just completed two back to back Ibis stays in Spain (neither obviously qualify for the QF deal but I’ve had my fill of Ibis for a while. Now happily comfortable in a Parador!

Yes, the ones further out in the burbs are often 12pm check in but you will found they also have a pretty rigid 10am checkout.

Paradores in Spain are really the best places to stay! Some are simply stunning. There are also a few similar properties that are not in the chain but offer brilliant facilities such as this in Ribera del Duero. Castilla Termal Monasterio de Valbuena - 5 stars Spa Hotel in Ribera del Duero

Hi - hoping to get people’s views on whether (and how) I should maintain gold by 31 Dec. I need 7 nights or 1240 status points to maintain (as shown in the screenshot).

I could try book a few nights to accrue 1240 status points, or I was considering paying for an Accor Plus membership (~$250) which will guarantee 20 status nights, meaning I maintain Gold.

I will be doing lots of work travel next year so think that maintaining gold for 2024 would be useful!

I got my Accor plus when it was half price. If you are going to travel often, I actually have gotten a lot out of the restaurant discounts and my membership year ends in April. With that and the 20 nights I’m looking at re qualifying. I also just used my free night at a Sofitel that would have been over $300. IMO best $199 paid

In my hotel in Bangkok, I couldn’t not see a different service level between Gold and Silver in practice.

I went DOWN from Silver to Gold as well today...did use Accor a few times recently, got some early check ins and the free beer...was good for free!

The mistake you made was not booking a couple of weeks at the Sebel in Auckland when it was retailing for $20/night as a Plus member!
