I was looking at rooms recently where HH was much more expensive the Accor, and plat with them would have given me a room upgrade.

Just the same as getting EY Gold so that when I fly VA, I will have lounge access. It's all about having an option if I needed it.

I have had so much trouble getting points I will never,ever go ACCOR again. I got to thinking it was a French idea of "let's mulch on the points".
The most annoying thing is the properties I stayed at keep sending me emails wanting me to come back!!

The main benefits of Le Club Platinum only apply if your stay is at a Sofitel, Pullman or MGallery. I have had Novotel people simply say that those benefits do not apply at their hotel (in the nicest, friendliest, customer orientated way (cough)).

I'll find out when I stay in Sofitel in NA for five nights next week.

Totally agree after sending so many emails and confirmation of stays still no points. And yes I get the same emails!

I couldn't agree more. I stay at the Pullman in Olympic park when the kids have swimming events on. Ask at the desk if my Accor number is there and it always is. Never received a single point for any stay, so now I don't even bother asking

I mainly stay at non-hotels.

However since gaining the free Platinum membership I have stayed at say half a dozen Acccor properties in France and Australia, and all good so far.

It might be luck of the draw.

Am giving it a go this friday night though at SYD, and in Oct in KBV. Will see how it goes ... SPG is often a little out of my price range at this stage of life.

Yep, my first experience of this was many years ago at the Mercure Broome. I hounded them every day for 40 days, they eventually came through

If staying at Accor properties now though (when no choice) I just book via Hotels.com and at least get 10% cashback through their scheme, on top of any other cashback received via QuidCo/TopCashback.

I checked in tonight at the Sofitel Washington DC and it was a very pleasant welcome, from bell hop to front desk to delivery of bags to my room. After giving my platinum number at check in, the front desk agent came to my room to give 2 drink vouchers.

It's an interesting question - "Le Club Accor" is free to join and can generate some benefits if you stay at Accor properties a lot.
