I received the new Citibank Rewards Platinum card.

Does the new Rewards Platinum card earn 1.25 point per $1?
If my math is right, that means 1 KF mile = $1.2 spend, assuming the transfer rate is still 1.5 Citi Points for 1 KF mile for Gold and Platinum

i just got off the phone to enquire about the whereabout of the pre-embossed card. I was given the run around, I was transferred to the activation department despite not receiving the card. I was finally made aware that I had to activate the card(even though I have not received the card). I was then transferred to the customer service department and was told I had to lodge a lost card. This was how citibank will send me a replacement card.


So bloody complicated!!!

No card in the mail today for me either. I'll wait 2-3 more days before asking for a replacement card.

I would prefer to read the invitation letter before activating the card, there might be some fine prints

It seems like quite a few of us have not received the card despite being eligible for the upgrade. I wonder if a batch of cards went missing in the post??

I just got off the phone with Citibank, no upgrade offer for me
Well, the customer service representative said I could request for an upgrade, but that means no more free for life. So I declined the offer.

I put through 1-2k every month and pay off monthly.

There is absolutely no logic to Citibank IMHO.
We both got free gold visa a few years ago.
Mrs Duffa was upgraded to platinum (with new numbers) long before me AND was offered a paid upgrade to Citiselect last year. I am still waiting for mine despite earning 5x her salary and putting through at least 3x every month, paid in full! Go figure.

Sometimes the desire of the bank to push people with lower spends onto the mre premium cards results from a lack of profitibility on the card of the lower spender. As they have less income from the card with a lowerd spend, they can increase their fee take by moving them onto a card with higher interchange fee. Perhaps your account was already profitable for them, so no need to give you a more premium card.

Now I need to transfer all the direct debits out of Citibank card before getting the cards upgraded!

My new platinum rewards card arrived today, glad I waited a few more days before requesting a replacement card.

I just rec'd the offer yesterday (along with the card, plus one for my other half who has a free supp. card). Surprisingly, this follows a (requested) reduction of my credit limit on my no annual fee gold VISA card from 20k to 10k last year, along with a large reduction in card useage (and thus monthly spend), due to my using my QANTAS AMEX card, and then that stupid Woolworths QANTAS card (which I will be cancelling VERY soon - their customer service is TERRIBLE). Anyway.. the Citibank card is paid off in full every month and has only averaged probably $200-300 per month for the last year or so. I was really very surprised to get one!

I am wondering if anyone has been able to find out if this card can be linked to the QFF program? It says in the fine print (on the back of the letter) in point 2 that "Excludes airline frequent flyer rewards programs", but I'm wondering if one can pay extra to have this card linked as used to be the case with Citibank platinum cards?

Does anyone have any info?

yes the card can be linked to the QFF program for $49 but the points are coming down to o.5 i heard in april 2012. i think citirewards is best no fee.
