Interesting. Sucks about the $99 fee though. What are the benefits of joining?

Saw this yesterday - now if only Velocity got into bed with Ikea, then we'll be laughing

No other furniture buys will earn as much VFF points as this.
I guess its worth it for newly divorced people who have to set up home again, or newly arrived migrants.
Expensive as Freedom is.
Of course we can still earn at Ikea with a VFF points earn card.

Where does it mention the $99 fee? I received an email from VFF and signed up on the Freedom website where it states that it is free to join.

I'm in the market for a couple of sofas, have some in mind from Freedom, but was astonished that they offer 2 kinds of terms- one 6 months interest free, the other 50 MONTHS with no deposit. How is this financially viable for a company?

I was just looking at something, just browsing on the Freedom Furniture website, and saw something I though would look good at my place, saw the Velocity earn points, and thought, hmm, thats new.
So decided to have a look around, and saw the $99 per 2 year fee, that was why I edited my post.
If no fee, then its all good.
But guess what, the other person I live with, told me off, as per normal, (no more buying stuff) in no uncertain terms.
Crying face emoji!
As for how they make money, on 6 months terms, and 50 months terms, maybe they want you on their books as a credit purchaser, and you are hooked on paying them for the next 6 months/50 months, if you have the scruples to pay the debt off.

Wow this will turn the company around :p
Saw the Freedom thing, before the news about VA financial troubles appeared.
Maybe in the end, in regards to VA, we might (or rather will) sadly see another case of similarity to the demise of AN 18 years ago.

I think it is viable because their goods are made cheaply offshore and sold for an exorbitant cost to the Australian consumer. A $3000 sofa probably cost $200 to make.

Harvey Norman is doing the same thing.

Well we could buy the furniture outright but at those terms why not pay it off - but you'd think waiting 50 months to get the purchase completed

Yes of course. Cheap imported stuff made out of particle board and foam.I have two Moran sofas I need to sell; 25 years old, everything as solid as the day we bought them, just the upholstery is old fashioned & they won't fit. \They'd go on for another 25 years but no one wants them
