If I were you I wouldn't post those sort of sentiments on the FT AA forum. Over there they seem to think that if you don't swap your First Class seat with a member of the armed forces flying in Economy then you are a lefty pinko freedom-hating bin Laden supporter.

Alan.

I Think that I have posted as such in the past on the AA forum regarding armed forces. It isn't as if these people have been conscripted, they have elected to take employment with the armed forces and this has risks associated with it, such as being deployed for periods of time in foreign climes.

I don't disagree with you dave; however, If you were in my situation wouldn't you try as well?

Doesn't look like it's going to happen anyway.

Have you been in contact with QFF on this already?

CSO's seemed confused, then disinterested. Looks like the door is firmly closed.

Thanks for the advice all.

guil, you need to escalate it, the CSA's who answer the phones on the QFF number won't have the level of authority to do it. Try Jenny Chamberlain (she's the GM of the QFF program).

Sentimentality

If I break my neck and all my legs and can't fly for 12 months should I ask for special treatment from QF as well? Qantas is a public company there to make money - not waste money and run a charity. They don't give a toss what you do for a living so long as you continue to requalify for your membership every year.
While I agree in principle, using the words "army" and "deployed to the Gulf" may be enough to work the magic. I'm in the US at the moment (yes, I know they're all mad but I have no choice) and the Flyertalk Forum was full of stories last week of sanctimonious twits giving up their seats in First/Business Class so one of "our brave boys" could sit in comfort. Apparently this extended to FAs asking passengers to move. Not a single dissenting voice could be heard

Initially I thought a bit unfair, if you'd paid for a first seat..... but then again in the US no-one actually pays to sit up the front, don't they just pay to sit down the back and get upgraded anyway .....

Indeed... even so,If it was me I would have been extremely strong in my refusal to move and would have been getting the person's name to lodge a complaint .

Issue settled, QF not interested... was worth a try. Currently on a (PAID) AONE6. Regained WP pretty fast, as did my wife.

Pity QANTAS don't pay more attention to Cathay's service in 1st.

Ah well guil - at least you tried - mind you I would perhaps have been switching to AAdvantage with those points. Nice trip though an AONE6 - are you sure 6 I have only heard of AONE5's...

There are 3,4,5 and 6 Continent One World Explorers ; a bit limiting if they start any one world service to Antartica , but maybe they will bring out an xONE7 for that :)
