Anyone else get this?

Welcome to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program online survey.

Qantas has commissioned The Leading Edge*, an independent market research company, to conduct a study into the needs and opinions of Qantas Frequent Flyer members.

We want to continuously improve how we service and support you through this program and the aim of the study is to improve our understanding of what you think about the Qantas Frequent Flyer program and any program enhancements that are currently under development.

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and you can complete the survey in multiple sittings.

Please be assured that your individual answers to the survey will remain strictly confidential.

The Leading Edge will analyse the results and will report only aggregated results to Qantas.

Click here to start the survey.

If you are willing to participate, we would appreciate if you could complete the online survey by 11 July 2008.

Thank you for your assistance in helping us improve the Qantas Frequent Flyer program for you.

We value your feedback.

Didn't receive it here. Perhaps the internet postman is slow :)

Doing the survey now. It is very heavy on Credit cards and the new program.

It gives you a link to look at the new scheme.

Well those are about the numbers I expect to see from QF Anytime awards - ridiculous "value". Did anyone expect any different?

What rubbish - I would have thought they would have been the usual double points or something.

The Co Pay options look rather pathetic as well - I mean 128k + $2030 to fly in Y to London - I dont think so!

What loons are running this program..... so glad I can choose where to put my Amex points.... certainly wont be Qantas..

Hold up...what's a Y ticket to LHR usually worth? Sometimes as little as $2,200ish right?

 @ the copay option!

Well I think my views were pretty clear - "strongly disagree" with any comment that might indicate the new scheme is good.

Subject to any other changes that might impact AAdvantage I will continue to put points there. I may reassess my "desire" to hit WP with QF and instead just flick enough to retain gold (better for upgrades) and work out what I want to do with my Amex points.

With this Co-Pay option, isn't it the same as buying the seat and giving away the points?

I agree that I was expecting the Any-Seat option to be approx double but certainly not 4.25x (SYD-SIN in J). That's simply crazy.

We do need to be careful comparing the co-pay/points to an average Y return to LHR. This is anytime remember so short notice might be the key.

It might not be possible to get the cheaper Y option to the UK at short notice. Quick experiment - just tried to book the soonest Y return flights to LHR staying for about a week. The earliest I could get was 5 July returning 12 July - at a cost of $3123. The other option was $3985...

So 128K points is worth between $1000 and $1900 at short notice.

Given the volume of points required, if people are saving for that once in a lifetime trip I would advise them to book a year in advance and just take a little more control of their lives rather than plan late and pay the penalty. Mind you - the more people that take anyseat options rather than classic reduces the competition for classic awards...

Syd - Mel return in Y is 16000 pts + $157 copayment under the new better:rolleyes::rolleyes: scheme!!! How much is a Syd-Mel return if you book in advance and paid cash?

Has it been 16K points for a SYD-MEL-SYD trip for some time?

Yup, since the last round of enhancements IIRC, + fuel surcharges etc to be paid in cash; the option to pay the latter with points came in ?1-2 years ago.

My concern is they will reduce the availability of the Classic award to push people into using Anyseat.

They say that Classic will stay as is but we don't actually know if that will be the case with regards to number of seats available. :(

I personally think the anyseat options are exorbitant (and i'm not even going to touch on the ridiculous point + pay options). It's also interesting they won't let you pay taxes on anyseat like with the classic award, it must be paid for in points.

hmmm, my initial feelings lean towards simongr's comment in post #14 above.

On an anytime award, my understanding is that as long as any of the fare buckets (and let me use economy as an example) shows 1 seat, it's available for use with points. Now as he pointed out, that flight might be tomorrow. QF have to try and juggle the likelihood of selling that seat versus a FF using their points. Given that it is likely to not be a deep discount (red e-Deal) or discount (Super Saver) fare, then it is understandable that QF want to find a mid-point value of QF FF points to average the number of points needed.

I thought they might have been looking at differentiating between the number of FF points needed, depending on the fare type available for sale (so lower needed if a red E-Deal seat available, higher for Super Saver etc). I suppose that presents it's own problems, as the fare paying public are not as understanding of the fare conditions as we are. Personally, I would be willing to spend more points if I got better flexibility (not that I use my FF points for buying award seats, my preference is still upgrades).

These anyseat charges are probably as expected, ie ridiculously expensive. Looks like my CC spend will all be headed to Krisflyer or Virgin Atlantic as I had planned.

With classic rewards .. I wonder if WP's will still have the (unpublished) ability to request flights and whether SG's & WP's still have better access to award inventory .... or as I suspect we will just be pushed into anyseat awards instead.
