Aright here we go,

I am a gold member with Qantas , for the last twelve months and probaly the next two years i will be travelling with Cathay Pacific from Aust to korea through HK at least twice evey 6 weeks for work.
This doesnt leave much time for other travel , Now Qantas have informed me that i will lose my Gold status for not doing the mandatory flights with them:mad:.

How do i get around this , join Marco polo club and start again , can i transfer status :?:.

I'm stumped and not very good at this stuff if anyone can help and advise the beers on me;)

Hi shane.maher,

Welcome to AFF. :D

From experience of other cases here on the forum, Qantas does not bend on this one. You need the mandatory four flights on Qantas to re-qualify.

Airlines as a rule do not transfer status unfortunately.

Is there no way you can do four legs on QF?

When do you need to the four flights by?

Any four points/SC earning flights with a QF or JQ flight number will do for the

.

Given ALL that travel you should have had quite a few QFF points hit your account.

You can get eligible flights from burning some on "Any Seat Awards". These can be surprisingly inexpensive if you know how/where to look.

This is generally achievable within a day. What is you main Home airport?

(OH! ... and welcome to AFF :D)

First post for me too ;)
Find myself in similar dilemna racking up loads of 1World points(mostly JL/CX), but rarely flying Qantas, coz its so darned expensive.
Easliy going to make the platinum points threshold again, but where do I get my 4 sectors from?
I used to be in Marco Polo, but it was a waste of time for an Oz resident. Never got the free upgrades that HK residents seem to.

I am looking to do some short haul stuff up and down the east coast, just to get "over the bar".
These "Any seat awards" seem to be the way to go (if I knew how to book them).
Also getting a cheapy on Jetstar, just for a day-run will work.
Pity there's not another way to do it

Maybe you should be crediting to another OW airline (e.g. AA)?

CBR-HBA-CBR (via SYD) will earn the 4 segments.

Be wary of JQ flights, if you book the cheapy then you need to tick the add on for points and SC's..

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I think you're going to have to spend a day on 4 short trips, no real way around it.

Sydney return to Bris via Coffs might work depending on where you're located.

Really? My reading of the T&Cs leads me to think that any JQ flight would get you a ~ (eligible flight).

Regardless, I'd suggest four JQ flights would be the best way to get your four ~.

Flights on JQ and QF are only "eligible' if they earns QFF points/SC's. For JQ that means paying more for the same flight.

Not anymore... JQ only award SC's on the cheapst fare if you also pay an extra $15. Without that extra $15 (I think it's per flight as well) it's as if you'd never flown with them from a QFF point of view.

Hmmm. Fair enough. I stand corrected.

joining the marco polo club prob ain't a bad way to go. your qf sg will get you in to lounges and j checkin until cx status can take over. whilst i'm not to sure of the details i do believe cx starts providing lounge access to it members from ow ruby equiv.
