Frequent flyers whose kids have hit gold status

Don’t have kids but I was 16 when I first got QF status. Although I was and still am obsessed with flying so solo trips were my birthday and Christmas presents on top of family holidays. Youngest I knew of was around 10 for QF silver or gold, can’t remember which as we were still in primary school or VA plat at 12. He had his WP tag on his backpack and I remember being so jealous 🤣. Think I might have been the only one who knew what it was. Whilst I think it’s definitely rare it certainly does happen.

I once queued up to enter SYD Dom J behind a boy and his Dad. As I reached the front of the queue, and the pair had just entered, the lounge agent turned to her colleague and said "Can you believe he's Platinum at 13?!"

Turns out he was flying solo but had guested his Dad into the lounge. (guess he can't do that anymore with the guesting policy changes!)

So they are out there - Gold isn't too difficult if the kid is flying paid J...

My eldest first made SG at 2, as soon she was no longer a lap infant and we had to pay for her seats (even if she actually sat with one of us for most of the flights).

As mentioned it really only takes a few long haul flights in a premium cabin to hit the 600 SC mark and at the time we had family living in Europe we visited fairly often.

He probably needed to have guested his Dad in. My kids sometimes had issues accessing lounges whilst flying solo as juniors, since the lounge is a licensed venue and their licensing laws don't allow for unaccompanied minors in the licensed area.
