OK @RooFlyer You have galvanised me into action to start posting some photos of my time in France visiting the chateaux of the Loire Valley

I stayed here Sans Souci Bed and Breakfast

Two Australian guys from Sydney who packed up and followed their dream to renovate an old house in very rural France and run a Bed and Breakfast. This was November 2022 so they only had five rooms and have since done a lot of renovations and included a pool. One of them is a chef so the food was excellent. They also did meals five nights a week when were there. There was nothing within walking distance but it was very quiet and peaceful.

We were at the end of the season. I was there for seven nights and my friend for four nights and we were the only ones there except for one night.

You obviously need a car to stay there but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and would happily go again

The breakfast was superb as were the meals and they mixed a mean coughtail

Chedigny was a lovely little town nearby that was deserted in November but apparently in mid summer with their rose festival it is packed

I probably wouldn't have gone here but my friend was very keen so off we went. I wouldn't put this on my list of places to go

Next up was Loches - it was a nightmare trying to find our way in Château de Loches - Wikipedia

It certainly wasn't a classic chateau but quite interesting

Always have to photograph a cat and I love the lace curtains

More Loches - again I enjoyed it but wouldn't go out of my way to go there again - the steep pitched roofs were interesting

Nearest train station is Tours and there is an Avis office right outside the station but of course they close for two hours for lunch

Yes, catching the train from CDG to Tours and then picking up a car there - perfect

I just booked the sanssouci . Your nice room was available, but I chose one of the cheaper ones. The more expensive cancelable option..

Because it was end of season and I was there a week they upgraded me for nothing. My friend was in the room about the guest lounge
