Was very disappointed to find out that my Fully Flexible fare SYD-WLG-SYD doe not give me the freedom to change my flight without any hassle, (fully flexible!!!) both ways. I just wanted to change my return flight to SYD and was disappointed to learn that I was flexible only one way; that the fully flexible ticket I purchased for more than double the amount of a Red e-Deal is not as flexible, or not really fully flexible as it says it is. The QF website does not allow me to make the change myself. When called Qantas desk, the will do it for a fee of A$40:confused:

I know that I should have read all the fine print before booking the flight, but if things continue to go that way, soon I will have to hire a lawyer for my QF bookings.

Fully flexible should be a lot more than double the red e deal price!!

I'm not questioning the price but the full flexibility of a Fully Flexible fare...

I share your feelings. I was truly shocked when they made this change a year or two ago. I just kept saying 'but it's flexible, what do you mean I have to pay $40?'. Even spoke to a supervisor to try and get it waived as qantas.com wouldn't let me change it myself (due to being paid for by voucher). No cigar. (as judge judy would say) RIDICULOUS

also annoying once you've upgraded a flex to u - you can't move the flight to another one with U availability online, or if you turn up to the airport early the agent will try to insist they can't move you to an earlier flight without losing the upgrade. i've stood my ground several times and have managed to keep my seat up front, but more often than not it's a drama

That seems odd because if you're already booked in the J cabin (whether it's J/D/U) on your original flight when the checkin agent transfers you to another flight it would move you to that new flight in the same cabin class as long as that flight was available up the front.

yes odd ... anyhow like i say i stand my ground and it's not been a problem. maybe they are just preparing me for the worst, i.e. if i want an uplift to an earlier flight i might have to take a downgrade

I'm not sure it is strange. It is what I expected as a domestic upgraded fare always continues to refer back to the original booking class. So changing on the day would refer to the original booking class not the upgraded class, I expect. Also if we look at the Qantas website we see the following advice in relation to domestic upgrades: Frequent Flyer - Using Points - Flight Upgrades - About Flight Upgrades

Flight Upgrade Awards cancelled within 24 hours of scheduled flight departure, or failure to board a booked flight, will result in the loss of the flight upgrade and any Points used to redeem the flight upgrade.

So if arriving at the airport with an upgraded flexible fare and wanting to change, I expect they see this as changing based on the original economy booking class with an associated cancellation, within 24 hours, of the upgrade.

Doesn't explain the fee for changing.....
