Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

Time for QF/RedRoo to clarify the QF access page,
or for some real world experience from people

Yes exactly. I couldn't care less what the BA website says - the person who wrote the update may have misunderstood the change.

What I want to know is what is actually happening at the entries to Galleries lounges (worldwide) when QP members front up?

When I eventually drop back to my QC membership I’d prefer to have the same benefits I had when I purchased it, such that if I book an AA flight, I get Admirals lounge access, if I book a QF flight I get QP access and if heaven forbid I decide to show some loyalty to BA, I get access to one of their lounges, no matter what the name of it is - especially if it’s in exactly the same spot it was before when under a different name.

I don’t think that’s a lot to ask for.

When I first joined my welcome letter stated I had access to over 250 QC, partner and associated lounges worldwide. It was prominently displayed on the website too. After my renewal that figure dropped to 130, even though I’d renewed based on the ~250 mark, and now it’s probably even less, a quick look at the QC benefits page resulted in me coming up empty handed, but I’m sure it’s a low number.

Anyone going through LHR T5 shortly? As the change on the BA web site was on 2nd Feb and Red Roo's notification earlier than that - I find it difficult to believe we haven't had a QP member try to access the T5 LHR lounge in the last week - or if they were refused, haven't raised the issue that we know of.

Most members end up catching a flying bug when they post on AFF and don’t stay QP-level for long ;)

Hi everyone,

We were of the understanding that Qantas club access was reinstated.
Sincere apologies that BA have posted on their website that this is not the case and that there are limitations to access.
Unfortunately for now, the policy on the BA site applies and we will continue to work with them to resolve the issue.
I will update you as soon as I have any news.

Thanks to you all for your patience.

Red Roo.

Thank you, Red Roo. That's a very prompt response. Please keep us posted on developments.

May I suggest, if BA isn't coming to the party, remove access for BA Club World pasengers to QF J lounges. (It's petty, I know, but fight fire with fire, I say.)

I too am waiting for Red Roo's response to the restrictive nature of the access to BA lounges as stated on the BA site.

I am flying a OneWorld RTW itinerary and it includes AMS-LHR and LHR-YUL legs.
Thus I would not have access with Qantas Club Membership under the BA explanation, but would have if the access was reinstated as suggested by Red Roo (by including Galleries lounges).

I have been waiting for correction of the Qantas Website which I had expected when the reinstatement was activated on 31st January as advised by Red Roo.

I specifically joined AFF to follow this thread as it seemed more active than threads on FlyerTalk and monitored more often by Red Roo.

Red Roo Thanks for the response to this thread which occurred while my previous post was being activated.

I hope you understanding on reinstatement is confirmed by BA after further discussions with Qantas.

Thanks for your response Red Roo, its great that you and QF are working on this.

It reminds me of the Minties advert - It's moments like these you need Minties

For what it is worth, I can confirm still being turned away. I hadn't seen this thread and tried it, only to be denied entry (again). I seperately emailed Qantas and got the same response as what Red Roo just said.

Ah well... :)

Thank you for contacting The Qantas Club and Frequent Flyer Service Centre.

I can understand your disappointment that you were unable to access the lounge at T5 at Heathrow before your recent travel with British Airways. Your Qantas Club membership entitles you to access selected British Airways Terraces and Executive Club lounges and American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. Regrettably, as the lounge at T5 is a Galleries lounge, our members will not be able to access this facility. Qantas is working with British Airways and the airport authorities to find a solution around providing Qantas Club members lounge access at T5. As soon as this is established, all members will be notified and it will be published on the web site. I thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.

If you'd like to know more about The Qantas Club, please visit [qantas website] where you'll find all the lounge locations and lounge access details in addition to the latest Qantas Club news.

Kind Regards,

Ronald

On what date were you turned away? And what was the date of the Qantas email?
pj

Qantas is working with British Airways and the airport authority??? I don't see what the latter has to do with it unless QF is looking to build its own dedicated lounge there.

I hope that access is being negotiated for all BA Galleries lounges to reinstate the previous worldwide access and not just to T5 Galleries lounges as indicated in focus of the above response from the Qantas Club and Frequent Flyer Service Centre representative.

Am I the only one who thinks this is in fact patching up the fact that there was no access out of T5 for QP members flying on BA (QF codeshare) services and doesn't relate to the original issue of no BA Galleries lounge access :confused:

Thank you Red Roo for being so prompt in replying to this ongoing saga. I sincerely hope the matter is resolved promptly and does not drag on for months .

We are flying via Singapore with a connecting flight QF codeshare with BA to Brussels from LHR Terminal 5.

Will we still have access to the Galleries Lounge as Qantas Club members ?

Thank you,

jojen

jojen, per the BA website - British Airways' Speedbird Club: QF Club members - access to BA Galleries Club lounges
You are flying BA/QF via SIN thru connecting to a BA flight from T5, so you should be ok.

Note due to the wording "thru connecting" I suspect anyone doing a stopover in London prior to going to Europe will be out of luck...

So do the stopover on the way back, as you would still get T3 access then.
