Game lodge South Africa

Can anyone recommend a good game lodge in South Africa. Preferably all inclusive. Traveling in Feb next year.

Have stayed at Sabi Sabi near Kruger. All inclusive private game reserve. They even can organise flights from J/Burg.

Ngala in the Kruger is excellent. They have an airstrip so you can fly in from JNB on a closed charter (search Federal Air). Fully inclusive. One of the best lodges I've been to recently. Roughly $1200pn. What's your planned budget?

Will look at this. Have no planned budget as it's my birthday . $1200 sounds ok for all inclusive. Going to Sun City first.

I would recommend Ulusaba. It's in the Sabi Sands region of Kruger and is owned/managed by the Richard Branson 'Private Collection'. Keep an eye out for the buy 3 get 1 free deal and spend 2 nights at Safari Lodge and 2 nights at Rock lodge. Spectacular game lodge with its own private airstrip and airport lounge as well. Amazing experience but priced accordingly.

If you are going to Sun city it is not far up the road to the Madikwe Game reserve.There are several lodges there we stayed at Sanctuary Makanyane lodge earlier this year and can thoroughly recommend it.

Just as anther thought, I've just left Leopard Mountain which is down on the Eastern coast. It's a lot cheaper ($600pn) and all inclusive except for booze. Wines with dinner were $10-20 per bottle, beers/ciders $2-3 and mixers $3-4 (for my Australian size gin).

It was equally as good (if not better) than some of the $1000-1300pn lodges I've done in the Kruger. It's an easy 3 hour self drive from Durban.

Im a +1 for Sabi Sabi. It has been 10 years since I was there, but it still keeps a good reputation. Am going to Ulusaba in a few months.

I have just used the services of Jacqui at lodge trackers

She is based locally in Hoedspruit and I found her local knowledge second to none. We leave in October so can't comment on the reserve she has booked us into but her quoted price was less than the advertised price on the reserve website ( my budget was significantly less than some of the other reserves previously mentioned). Her communication etc was fantastic, a very smooth process so far.
I picked her due to her excellent reviews and posting help on trip advisor forums.

Shumbalala in the Thornybush Private Reserve - max 10-12 guests at a time.

Had an amazing time there. There is a private airstrip (like many have) and it is an amazing 20 minute flight over the Kruger, the townships and the agricultural area to Nelspruit Airport.

We organised our entire trip through Jacada Travel in the UK and can't recommend them highly enough.

I've stayed at Monwana in Thornybush and was very happy with the value (about $600 p/night all inclusive). In fact I was so pleased with their level of hospitality that I booked it for my parents few years later.

I don't think you can go wrong with any game lodge in that area, it just a matter of how much you are willing to spend. Monwana is actually on the cheap side.

No budget as it my birthday and a big one lol. I do want all inclusive and would prefer adults only. Don't get me wrong. I love kids ( flying back to Aus this week to take the 5 little grandkids skiing ) but sometimes it's just nice lol.
i will look at this one too. Not going till Feb but want everything booked this month. Looking at golf resorts too as we are mad golfers.

We go to South Africa every year on safari with friends. Always luxury game lodges. Suggest you check out some of our favorite
lodges. Non of them more than 6 people per vehicle so everyone has a 'window' seat!

Mala Mala Rattrays - 8 villas only 4 people per vehicle

Royal Malewane - 6 villas

Lion Sands and River Lodge superior luxury villas.

Leopard Hills - 8 villas

Jamala Madikwe - 5 rooms

Tswalu - green Kalahari for something very different.
