US is the second last place in the world I'd want to be right now. cough healthcare system, cough law and order, everyone armed to the teeth stressed out and on edge. No thanks.

UK is the last place. Conducting a live clinical trial experiment with an entire population that is offering up vulnerable people on a platter. Oh you are old or vulnerable? 4 months isolation bye bye.

Seriously, I almost can't believe what is happening over there.

I’d still rather take my chance in the UK than with some gun toting nut job in the US.
The US is going to be a very scary place

It's about containment wherever possible and is known not to be a perfect policy. It will get out regardless but as long as people aren't flagrantly ignoring the requirement it's the best that can be done.

The USA shapes as the largest source of Australian CV19 cases...

Authorities have provided information about specific destinations in only half of the cases acquired overseas.

Among those cases, the United States was the most common country visited, followed by Italy, China, Iran and the UK.

And while the Diamond Princess cruise ship is not a country, it remains one of the top sources of infection.

The report below has Australian cases broken down in various ways:

Working remote is proving difficult. WebEx keeps falling in a heap. Zoom has been marginally better.

Looks like something is in the pipeline according to Channel 9.
Ties in to what I’ve heard through work that we are looking at a lock down from March 20th-31st
  • Australia has asked for all travelling Australians to return to home.
  • currently meeting on additional restrictions - anticipate bans on bars, clubs, restaurants.
  • announcement will be made in the morning.

Also....... trying to run a planning session with 30+ people remotely is proving to be a nightmare. I suspect there will end up being a lot of projects delayed overall. With the IR35 tax reform happening in the UK too I can feel a lot of people being out of work for a lot longer than expected.

A bit overdue in my opinion, but 20/3 is also the date I'm hearing from well-placed folk. (I used to be one of them but no more).

Not enough. We need a 2 week school and work shutdown. Stuff the economic impact. We will be better off in the long run if we take the hard decisions now.

The hospital I work at has fast tracked the appointment of 4 full time locum medical specialists in anticipation of the tsunami of patients...can't be a good sign of things to come. :(

It occurs to me I haven’t seen the PM on tv since Saturday when he said he now was not going to the footy after all. Is he in self isolation?

Friend just advised me his kinda step daughter arrived 19hrs ago from the US, and there she is, at the beach with friends, having lunch with friends, clubbing.

So this self isolation doesn't work
