Just curious if people are ignoring the media hype and information?
I currently check COVID-19 (coronavirus) | NSW Government
And an ABC site which is giving basic statistics
Running the gamut of information overload has been excatly that....overload .
Deciding to ....reduce my ...news information for a myriad of reasons. Especially if world takes a long time to recover (not having a suggestion just a comment ) this could be a long time and I need to ....still be ok whilst it happens

Purely a NSW info source though. Definitely overload which is why I watch Escape to the Country where the most important issue seems to be whether the kitchen is large enough!

The differences between states also overwhelms. I have reduced to local only for now .

Best come to SA then. So far no deaths and just two positives for the last couple of days. Hope that sticks.

Adelaide water just looks like it has been drunk before..... That beer cannot be explained when Coopers is quite ok.

So not even Coronavirus can live in Adelaide tap water? Excellent! :)
Shhh. Next thing Trump will be sending out the Marines to pump out our reservoirs. Greater good and all that.
Post automatically merged:

Boris Johnson moved to ICU.
I'm hoping this means he is just getting rock star treatment as he should of course, rather than true real need. He must survive whatever you think of his politics. He was looking dreadful of recent times.

It's actually really good now but enjoy the reminiscence.

That changed overnight :(
Yes, reading between the SA Health lines it was expected. My Sticks comment was added because of that. He had been in ICU for quite some time, and was infected interstate where he attended a large wedding with guests from Italy. So he would have been on of the first to test positive.

What is it with health ministers?

Scotland's chief medical officer has resigned after making two trips to her second home during the coronavirus lockdown.
Dr Calderwood had earlier been given a police warning for breaking the lockdown rules after the Scottish Sun published photographs taken on Saturday of her and her family visiting Earlsferry in Fife - more than an hour's drive from her main family home in Edinburgh.

And:

WELLINGTON - New Zealand's health minister described himself as "an idiot" Tuesday for breaking lockdown restrictions, but kept his job coordinating the South Pacific nation's COVID-19 response.

Health Minister David Clark said he offered his resignation to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern after revealing he took a 20-kilometre (12.5-mile) drive to the beach with his family.

Clark admitted the trip was a clear breach of the country's strict lockdown rules, under which families must stay close to home, and his position meant he should have been setting an example.

I force myself to read the world stats once a day.
Many of the European countries with a high death per million rate , could be assumed to comprise current or past cigarette users.
There was a post somewhere for some research in Wuhan that did not support smoking with increased convid morbidity.
If not fa_s.. then what has driven the hight death toll..surely not just the ageing population?

Italy - Age; Smoking; lots of hugging. Also the first European country to be badly hit so not so educated as to how to prevent transmision. My guess.

And in Italy if a patient dies that had tested positive to Covid then that is down as a death due to Covid rather than heart attack or whatever the patient died of.

“The way in which we code deaths in our country is very generous in the sense that all the people who die in hospitals with the coronavirus are deemed to be dying of the coronavirus.
On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity - many had two or three,” he says."

There has to be an underlying reason for these figures, perhaps population age, who knows

One thing I heard is / was that Italians spend a lot of time with their elderly parents socialising in large family groups, eating meals, visiting all the time. And, the popn profile is older.

The surprising thing there is the low number of deaths in the US. As their health system for very many people is woeful, you'd think it would be higher, that is if the poorer and non or under insured are even being counted as CV deaths. Johns Hopkins currently number of cases:

Confirmed Cases by Country/Region/Sovereignty
368,376 US
136,675 Spain
132,547 Italy
103,375 Germany
98,984 France
82,697 China
60,500 Iran
52,279 United Kingdom
30,217 Turkey

Yes there was a report on that, and not just parents, grandparents and extended mixing. The virus loves lots of mixing of people, especially with close contact.

Plus also mentioned that greetings more commonly evolved more hugging and kissing.

Add to that early infections, and very slow reaction to try and control the rate of spread.

Just the hilarious story we all need in this environment. Almost as good as uk loons burning down mobile towers to prevent 5G spreading Covid19.
