I understand that this isn’t a Virgin specific issue (it’s everywhere) but I had another instance of frustration last night.

I booked an award flight for an out of pocket cost of $172.26. When I got to payment there was an additional $30 applied as a “Booking Service Fee”. A domestic revenue ticket, that could have easily been priced at >$172 would have attracted a $10 fee.

The Booking and Service Fee covers a range of costs, activities, fees and charges in relation to the booking, including (among other things) the reasonable costs of accepting card payments

The fact that you get charged a flat rate which, in this instance, equates to a 17% surcharge is a bit rich.

Yep. The stupid thing with VA is that there is no fee if the taxes on an award booking are under $50, then a $30 fee if above that.

And don't get me starting on the way the airlines pretend it's not really a credit card fee. If it looks like a credit card fee, smells like a credit card fee and you're only charged it if you pay by credit card...
