General Medical issues thread

Don't downplay the potential seriousness.
mrsterryn, book in for your colonoscopy after seeing your GP. He/she will tell you which mob they favour for the procedure. Get in, get it done.
If there are pollops (pre-cancer ) they will be removed and biopsy done depending on size. No big deal. If they are large you will be told to come back in 12 months for another check and that might be the end of it. If not you might need annual colonoscopy until they are happy it looks clear.
You've probably gathered I've been there. The idea was scary at first, but now it is under control I am fine with it.

All polyps entirely removed and sent to Lab. None are biopsies (bit of polyp sampled)

If difficult to remove or unsure if removed entirely then redo in 6-12 months.
If Family history is strong or previous polyps then interval is 3 years. If all clear then 5 years

Or some say if poo test negative redo poo test in 5 years.

I am back to 3 yearly. The colon clearing goop is very effective and often I get done early due to no shows. Certainly I would not put this off as it doesn’t hurt and could be a life saver if they find something that needs to be removed.

Darn did one of those over 50 bowel cancer tests. Letter was sent to say blood in sample off to see gp.
I wonder how quickly I see a specialist ?
USA is six weeks .
That's what happened to me, with about the same timeframe. GP put me in a spin, told me it looks like bowel cancer, cancel your trip. Glad I didn't.
I got in to have a colonoscopy, as a public patient, in a month. CT scan, ultrasound, MRI and colonoscopy, all within 6 weeks!
It's been a wild ride, but colonoscopy last Friday, no cancer, no Crohn's, fly out tomorrow.
All the best to you!

Sorry @JohnM - didn’t mean to be cryptic. I have/ had minimal information. All I know about the surgery is that the prostate was not removed but surgery was very invasive.

Thanks for the insight into what the injection might have been. No weight issues for my father though - 70 years old and works a physical active job and eats sparingly! Whisky on the other hand LOL.

Anyone know what could be causing Angela Merkel’s shakes. It has happened twice while she was standing.
Originally she put it down to dehydration but yesterday’s footage showed her shaking all over.

Please update with your inflight experience. Especially interested in the placement of the cylinders inflight and if any interactions with cabin crew regarding the O2.

While a decompression would be extremely rare, what’s your plan if the cabin altitude goes to 12000feet?
I was hoping that there would be nothing to report at this stage on my flights next week. I just rang Qantas special handling to double check everything is in place. However, Qantas have lost the documents I sent in mid-June and so I have not been cleared to fly at this stage. I was told in mid-June that I would be contacted if there was anything else I needed to provide to them. Thank heavens I rang today to check. My information has been again been forwarded to the Qantas medical team and I may be cleared or I may need more evidence from the respiratory physician who signed the forms.

Luckily my +1 is out at the moment. He won't be impressed.
