General Medical issues thread

Some people are meant to suffer more. It is written. Life's tough. It doesn't get any better.

Anyone have any experience with plantar fascitis? I've not been to GP yet but have been asking Dr Google. The outlook as always is very grim but then you'd expect me to think that way.
MrLtL found that orthotics have removed all pain from PF. Proper ones fitted by a podiatrist though not over the counter stuff.

The boss is home and I'm looking after her! As I said earlier things went well but she has 4 screws instead of 3, and they seem to a numpty like me going into the talus, she brought home some xrays. By chance I got talking to a woman in a "boot" this morning, she has had an ankle replacement, she also has had both knees replaced and her husband has has 1 knee job. She is happy as she can walk with the boot on.
So if anyone wants to come and help me with looking after the boss, send me a p.m. :)

I can promise a nice bottle of Mount Mary pinot or quintet, but you have share it with me. :)

Don't worry @Cossie mrsdrron has 11 screws or pins in her left ankle. She still gets around pretty well.Did need 6 months in a moon boot though.

Actually I have 2 metal plates and 12 screws holding my ankle together. I also fracture my patella and tore the ligaments in my knee. When I do something I do it well !! 😲
Mr P has no elbow thanks to a trip over the concrete steps in darkness they have near tram stops in Melbourne. Can't play golf anymore.

Oooooh! Very tempting - the Mount Mary I mean.

Saw the oncologist this morning.
He has ordered a pet scan to determine whether there are any other cell clusters lurking around.
Deja vu really back to September 2016 and post op CT scan.
If the only group of cells is the one in the lungs I'm looking at radiation. If more then its drugs.
I suggested Nivolumab to get my immune system hyped up to deal with the cancer cells and any potential covid 19 infection.
He surprised me by saying that a lot of patients on Nivolumab actually contract infections.
So I'm waiting to hear back from the pet scan operator.
Good luck with the PET scan! Hope the news is as good as can be expected.

Yes Nivolumab can knock you around a bit; all the immunotherapies were touted as having very low incidence of side effects, but we see very odd things coming through in places you wouldn't expect; like skin and bowel.

Off to the specialist soon, plaster backslab off, stitches removed, fibreglass cast on, more non weight bearing for a minimum of 6 weeks.
She has been mostly good, but the backslab is coughbersome, hopefully the new one will be much lighter. :)

Edit: Well are very lucky, her surgeon isn't doing anymore private stuff for the foreseeable future.

The boss is in a hot pink cast, easier for kids to write on!

How are you doing RK?

Sorry I got sidetracked. Thanx for asking.
Had petscan on Thursday.
Group of cells in lung determined as definitely cancerous.
However there are some cells on right adrenal that couldn't be defined.
Appointment with onco next Wed to determine whether it's radiation or drugs. From last meeting he was leaning towards radiation.
Not looking forward to it but it has to be better than the alternative.

Bugga. I am holding off calling the cardio due to the pandemic, but I am getting alot of chest discomfort when walking. Started 13 March which is about 6 weeks after the previous procedure. 6 weeks is about average before it goes bad again and I tend to leave it a while longer to convince myself I am not imagining it before I visit the cardio. Part of my disappointment is not being able to plan anything, it makes life so ... awkward I guess you'd say. It started off so well.

Can any of you clever experienced members suggest what I do with 300,000 Asia miles expiring with Cathay in June? I don't know how to protect them until I get well enough to travel. Might be better to answer this by message.

The head of surgery at Royal Perth Hospital says they are seeing fewer road crash victims but more folks who have been injured from falling off homes where they were trying a bit of home renovating like cleaning/painting gutters.
