General Medical issues thread

So it’s been four weeks on steroi_ now and I start to taper down tomorrow. Two jumps for first two months then just 1mg down each month. So if all goes to plan, 13 months cycle. Have to take a blood test every month and just did the first.

I was very aware of side effects so have been very careful of managing hunger. And now I have to have something for breakfast. I dont do breakfast unless I’m on holidays. Anyway I’ve been so careful and have a good diet now and I’ve lost a kilo! Go figure. I’m keeping my beard under control too. 😂. Kidding.

But I’m so much better than where I was four weeks ago. I still know I have it. I still have morning stiffness. I do get the occasional jab. I’m still not quite as mobile as I was and have lost a bit of confidence. I actually let MrP do some things now. That surprised him.
Would yoga help with some of the stiffness, mobility and balance? It can be as dynamic or gentle as you need.

You know you are going to have serious problems when you can't put on your socks at any time throughout the day.

My mother had PMR some years ago and was on steroi_s for a period. She did put on weight but then as the dosage was reduced over the course of the disease, she lost the extra. Then was totally off the medication and back to her pre-PMR weight, So light at the end of the tunnel (except that none of us as are young as we once were!)

At least you had socks. I didn't this morning Someone forgot to turn on the washer last night
I have a wonderful wife that doesn't like me touching the washing. I hung the washed clothes once and I failed every single test of how to hang clothes. I think my daughter will be a great help soon. She's very keen to help.

Life can get very difficult real quick.

Struggling to walk any distance. Now it's the hamstrings that cannot take any pressure. Take daughter to school in morning, park the car and walk 200m-300m to just outside her classroom. A 6 year old walks faster, come on daddy, slow coach. Feel like crying. At least I don't have to get out of car in afternoon.

@drron - this girl had APS like me and died 6 weeks after Moderna shot. Seems that Moderna is contraindicated for people with APS but it's the first I've heard. I had Moderna for my fourth shot. Should I shift back to Pfizer? Any relationship with PMR?

Basically little difference between Pfizer and Moderna. If wanting to switch Novavax would be a better choice.

Had a huge scare earlier.

Wife went to do a CT brain scan and they injected her with a dye. When she came out she felt nauseous and wanted to vomit. She went to bathroom.

A few minutes later hear knocking and shouting on the glass wall and we go outside. She could not breathe and could not move one hand. I think she was going through panic attack. Finally managed to vomit but she was not well laying down on floor. Blood pressure 111/76 and she slowly came around.

Boy that was scary. She thought she was not going to see us again. This numb toes/feet ordeal is taking its toll.

Organized steroi_ shots into my hip bursitis today and chose to pay extra to jump the queue. Last time the cortisone shots worked for about 4 months. Time for another go instead of putting up with the pain.

Fourth doctors visit in 6 weeks. Sick of it. ☹️
Oh dear. Hope being away from home it's manageable even if not pleasant. Don't come home for a couple of weeks. Adelaide is hot hot hot next week.

Hopefully cooler by then 😬
Yes I was looking at the forecast. I was looking at seeing if I could get an earlier flight but then I’d have to kick my tenant out but looking at the forecast it might be better to stay here

I think we are getting a heat wave as opposed to the faux heat waves the youngies think these days. Stay put.
