General Medical issues thread

They have a nasty side effect of reducing gastric emptying which makes the "fast for 6hrs prior to an Op" questionable.

As they are dosed 1/week, they hang around a long time - the effect lingers for up to 4 times that. Currently no one knows what the real answer is, so the recommendations are likely to change as these drugs are better understood.

Another recommendation is to fast from solid food for 2 days but can drink water or clear fluids - sort of like the colonoscopy prep period without the bowel prep.
I’ve been told to cease as Ozempic three weeks prior to my coronary ablation procedure. Strange in retrospect that the electrophysiologist didn’t ask and I forgot to venture, what dose I’d be on then.

May 2023 I underwent a 6hr thoracic surgery to obtain a biopsy sample. After 6 days in ICU and then 9 days on steroi_s I started chemo. Over the ensuing months I sensed my heart wasn't right and I experienced angina and an ejection rate issue as a result of the chemo. The ejection rate has improved with the use of medication but the daily angina is unpleasant. 2 weeks ago I had scans of my heart and chest, a CTCA. Turns out during the biopsy surgery my RIMA by-pass was entered and in an effort to stop me bleeding out the RIMA was terminated. The beautiful work performed by my cardiac surgeon in 2020 has been undone and the by-pass now ineffectual. I am not angry, my time was running out and this was the only way to get a biopsy so treatment could commence. Still frustrating to think I will need to undergo more cardio-thoracic surgery if I want the by-pass restored, and that is if doctors are prepared to risk it one more time. At this time I have not managed to have any critical discussions still waiting to get the lowdown on my options and how they might dovetail with the cancer treatment.
