In the mail today i got a generous Qantas gift. 1 Lounge voucher for a silver member.
This is from the free offer last month. Back then i was silver.

Now i am gold. Is there a way i can renegotiate this useless and redundant voucher for the offer that was given to Golder members at the time.

I rang Qantas and got hold someone called Justin. He told me to call this number 0296913399. This number was not attended but was a qantas number.

Any other ideas?

Isn't it a standard item given to members upon reaching silver? Give it to family or a friend, or someone on AFF ;)

no it was a result of the industrial action, but I reached Gold not silver.
Gold gets this privilege for free.

You could use it to take an extra guest in that your not entitled to I suppose.

yes but Gold can take a guest anyway. I want a better present is all. Else i now have Virgin Gold and may try them :)

Some people are hard to please, they were generous enough to give you something, when more than likely you were totally unaffected by the industrial problems, give it to a friend and move on.

If it's the result of the grounding are you sure it's not a voucher for the FLounge in SYD or MEL?
PS will be issued a QP pass as a matter of course on reaching PS, but QF have been sending out FLounge invites to non-WP's as their way of saying sorry for the grounding.

Of course if it is an FLounge pass and you don't want it feel free to send it my way (I need one for Mrs Harvyk )

Which lounge was it for? Just the qantas Club? I only ask as I know a silver who received a lounge pass for the F lounge.

Either way you got something for nothing, and because they may not give you more you'll go to VA??

But not two , which was my point, and given the number of threads we see here about needing to guest in more than you are entitled to, especially over the holiday season, it shows your gift to be worth something!

What markis10 meant with "extra" guest was that normally an SG gets 1 guest - the pass can be used to enable an additional guest, making 2.

You mean when i had to spend the night on a seat in MEL because i could not get a direct flight from PER-BNE.
No sleeping at a airport from 12:00 to 4:00am is not much of an inconvenience.
You mean mean when i finally got home I was again inconvenienced and had to go to AKL with vigin on the Sunday.

But you were offered a free flight as compensation? the gift was an extra...

Travel Insurance would have been handy, and lets not forget a free flight! I think getting the determined sorry gift for the level of status you were at the time the issues were in play were appropriate, and as shown not totally useless.

Personally I'd chalk that up to something that every frequent flyer has done at some stage. Whilst airports are not much fun at 3 am not every travel plan works out as expected.
Most people who end up in that situation usually don't even get an apology of any nature from the airline.

Were you Silver at the time of the industrial action? Case closed if so.

<redacted> welcome to the world of air travel, delays happen, you should be thankful you were on qantas and have been as well looked after as you have been!

Be greatful for what you have compensated with in the last month or so, you certainly would not have had this amount of compensation from Virgin, Jetstar or Tiger.

Maybe I should call qantas and threaten taking my business to Virgin because all I got was a lousy voucher for limo transfer, you would think the least they could do was have Alan Joyce drive me to the airport.

Still waiting to hear. Was it a first lounge pass?! If so, that is not something you get at silver or even gold. I don't recall any mention of giving out QP pass as part of the sorry gift.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

As a Gold card carrying member I just received a complimentary single use pass to the first class lounge (MEL or SYD ) as a "sorry for the recent inconvenience'" gift.

In actual fact there was no inconvenience as,luckily, I was at work.

Be thankful you were flying QF.

I was stuck in an airport flying Delta for 7 hours from 11pm to 6am (no sleeping either I had to line up for 5 hours to get my flight rebooked), missed my meeting, and went without my luggage for 2 days. And I got absolutely nothing!
