Getting Row 3 as a Gold

Can any WPs confirm that they can select seats 4D to 6F (block of 9 seats) ? I've only been in J since sabre.

I made a BNE-PER booking yesterday on a 73H and could select any seat from row 3 and back during the booking process (WP). My partner (Vel Red) could only select row 17 and back.

Were you on the same PNR?

I have finally managed to sit in row 3 from 6 flights since the changes.

You want to have it confirmed from an Virgin employee?

From my observations it is a free for all at some point in time during airport check-in. I hate these changes.

- Choose a seat early and you are doomed unless you call to get seat changed
- Choose a seat during OLCI and again you are doomed until you get to airport
- Don't choose a seat, don't OLCI and you are given a theoretical seat which as Gold can be row 7 and worse and if better seats free up you are not automatically moved into those seats

Said it before, will say it again:

Row 3 - 6 should be available:
To WP at all times;
To SG at OLCI; and
To everyone at the airport.

It's a very simple solution. Don't reward once a year fliers who arrive at the airport 2+ hours before departure over your loyal SGs who have the process of OLCI and airport arrival down to a fine art BECAUSE THEY FLY REGULARLY WITH YOU. Even when I eat in the Lounge I never arrive more than 60 minutes before my flight leaves (unless I want to Fly Ahead), because with priority everything I know exactly how long everything takes to do.

I haven't flown since Sabre but will be providing this feedback to VA after each and every flight if this simple change is not adopted.

Rows 3-6 should be Platinum only

I know Qantas do it, but I don't like that the front Y rows are open slather to anyone at 80hours etc

T-14 days should be plat only
T- 24 hours (I.e online checkin) should be golds.
Simple as that

BTW, just about to board and got 3A so that's 1/1 Y flights since new system in 3!

I just had a bit of a dyslexic read! I briefly thought (no pun intended) that you wrote the Y fronts are open slather to anyone!

I was momentarily thinking "no wonder you don't like that"!

I just got row 3D after doing OLCI for 7A. I asked at the desk and at first she was reluctant and then saw I was SG and unlocked the seat for me. It seems that Row 3 is indeed available at the desk/lounge for SG, open slather for WP and I'd suggest not available at all for less than SG unless you get a very sympathetic VA checkin agent.

Rows 3-6 should be Platinum only
You think Virgin should isolate row 3-6 and have a Platinum only mini cabin?

I know Qantas do it, but I don't like that the front Y rows are open slather to anyone at 80hours etc
Virgin does not have the equivalent so I suggest when OLCI opens at T-48 hours rows 3-6 be made available to Gold and possibly Silver if a Platinum is not already in those seats. If any Platinums book/change flights after this time then tough luck someone is already in your favourite seat.

With Virgin losing their rep on AFF I do not think they realise the damage this implementation has cost them.

Has the rep gone completely?? I said again to the call centre today they have no idea the damage this new system has caused. They are handing out credit like it's water for any complaints (a friend got 4 tickets to Fiji free the other day also for a booking error online). I'm been solely loyal to VA the last 2 years, but my patience is wearing very thin. Nothing is getting fixed, I'm sick of excuses and I'm sick of being put on hold for upwards of 45 mins every day with problems still not fixed.

I hope they fix this soon. I'm about to book a bunch of flights for work and I'm leaning back towards QF...

I'm on gold. I haven't booked VA since the change to Sabre but earlier, I've always had row 3. One upgrade to 'old' business seat on E190.

On 1351 to DRW and in row 3 with a spare middle seat (actually everyone pretty much has a spare middle seat. Perks of a DRW flight in wet season). Interestingly, J has 5/8.

And now sitting at DRW for 1354 back to SYD and got put in row 19 and then changed to row 5 as rows 3 and 4 were full...surely not from WPs and already checked in SGs. No exit rows either apparently.
