Gifts for cabin crew

First time I’ve ever gifted anything, flying domestic AA in F (LAS-ORD) mostly on account of having a spare pack of Tim Tams before I left.

Gave the packet just prior to TOD (didn’t expect anything) - was given another drink in plastic (not offered to anyone else) and when I used the bathroom on the way back to my seat she slipped me three mini bottles of gin.

She also came back to have a quick chat to ask where I lived and shared her experience in Australia.

She had some difficult pax on this flight so I think the gesture was much appreciated. Cost me about A$3 so really wasn’t expecting anything beyond a “thankyou”.

Just returned SQ -outbound 2 sector, inbound 2 sectors all in J. I gave a box of nice chocolates on each leg. The crews all seemed a bit surprised but pleased.
Outbound crews both insisted on giving me a bundle of amenities with a thank you note later in the flights. That was very sweet of them. Inbound just their thanks which is more than enough for me. These sectors were busy and late night. As the flights were all only Y/J we didn't expect or want anything special but it was nice to give the crew a bit of a lift. Good crews all sectors.

This did tickle my fancy - many here will know the degree of love I have for QF? Like ZERO!

So after handing over ‘gifts’ to all 12 Cabin and Flight Crew Members on QF497 Fri nt CSM visited me and insisted I accept a bottle of Champagne in return - I inquired ‘You have Champagne?’ - ‘We surely do’ he replied - ‘Ok that would be lovely but I really do not expect anything’ - ‘no I insist’ - ‘Ok thank you very much’ 👍

Pics here of said QF Champagne:

Erm... not made in Reims??

Forget Tim tams! So has anyone got unused copies of Spare we can give to cabin crew? :) :) :)

I've got a slew of flights coming up:

VA BNE/SYD/PER on Sunday
VA PER/MEL/BNE on Tuesday
VA BNE/ADL/DRW/BNE next month
QF BNE/POM/BNE & PX POM/MAG/POM - early August

Looking forward to seeing how the PX flight crew percieve chocolates. Better go and stock up at BigW, as my stash is running low

Had 3 flights in 2 days and had loaded up on FR 5-packs at $3.75 each from Coles (couldn’t get to K-Mart)

Gave a sleeve to the ladies at BNE Lounge and found out Manager on 3 month LSL and confirmed another of my favourite staff (Charlotte) is coming back to VA and the Lounge.

BNE/ADL

Was a definite surprise to the CM and FA when I handed over BP and chocs. Was in J so did have a good chat with CM during service. She shared the chocs with the Y crew mid-flight and reported that they were all thrilled and needed it as they had a long 3 flight day

ADL/DRW

Also gave a sleeve to the ADL Lounge angel who let me in to grab some food (for the flight) and told me I was the last to board and had alerted them that I was in the Lounge. Value right there for the gift as I hoovered up their remaining sandwiches that were about to be binned (as Lounge was closing soon).

Nighttime flight and crew were a bit surly but appreciative of the gift.

DRW/BNE

Same surprised look from the male FA and CM. They noted my seat 💺 and before service the FA came to me with a takeaway cup filled with sparkling and a snack (trail mix)

Then the CM came after he had completed service and gave me chips and a KitKat.

This piqued the curiosity of my seat mates so I told them. Neither had ever thought of doing it.

@QF WP It is a lovely gesture and plan on doing it tomorrow on our 2 domestic Y flights.
Question though, as we are in Y this time (and always one to obey the golden rule of not heading to J toilets) how best to give to CSM?

WP on trans tasman often get to use J toilets, especially if the FA is a neighbor. Ok about 20 km but same lifestile.

Thanks for the reminder
I plan on getting some Norwegian chocolates for the QF staff in J for our return LAX-SYD. Mostly as a pre-emotive apology as our boy has picked up the skill of throwing tantrums during our stay here. I'd buy some for the whole cabin if I could... fingers crossed we can adjust to west coast time in two days and he sleeps when they do 🤞

I have them in my pocket as I leave the Lounge and under my BP as I board. Sometimes they take my BP and the chocs are revealed or I rotate my hand so they’re on top after they’ve checked my BP and say “these are for the crew as it’s going to be (or been) a long day”.

The majority of the time I’m in Economy X (or I’ve upgraded to Business).

Thank you @QF WP, sounds good.

Hi guys, I’ve got a JAL flight Mel to NRT coming up. Flying in J and was planning on 5 packets of Tim Tams. It’s first time gifting for me. Is this too little for a 10hr flight ? Or too much ? I am not expecting anything in return for me. It’s my first time flying with JAL and I have heard of their great service so want to reciprocate with giving them some chocs for the long flight.
Also, when’s best time to give this ? I’ve seen others gift it when they come around with welcome drinks. Thanks in advance. 😊
