Glasgow to Dublin: which airline?

Couldn't fing the Your Questions thread, so hope this is OK to post here.

For the short journey GLA to DUB I have a choice of Aer Lingus or Ryan Air. Both have many really poor recent reviews on the Airlinequality website. Aer Lingus travellers report luggage not being loaded or going missing even on short direct flights. Ryan Air have recently put extreme restrictions on cabin bagage. Many complaints about poor communication and denial of own mistakes for both companies. And what about Stobart Air which actually operates the Aer Lingus flights?

Which is least bad?

Given Ryanair's reputation, and annoying things like $100 or whatever to get your boarding pass printed at the airport if you don't do it at home... I'd stick with legacy.

I'd definitely go with Aer Lingus - it's the lesser of two evils.

Ryanair is just awful for a number of reasons. I never expect to have a pleasant experience with them.

You might even get some minuscule QF points for Aer Lingus.

We used Aer Lingus/Stobart to go from Dublin to Glasgow, and no issues - I booked the flights using points. It's a quick flight. I imagine it would be the same going back the other way

I once flew this route back when BA owned loganair. It was DUB-GLA with a literal 5 minute stop at Derry. We didn't get off the plane. Completely bypassed UK immigration.

I do have UK relatives that use Ryanair quite a bit and swear by them especially when they have their £5 specials. Guess you get what you pay for though

^ Can’t believe how cheap flights are in the UK. Gatwick to Inverness was either £9 or £19 apiece for middle-of-the-day weekdays on EasyJet; even adding things I’d expect to get for free on a full-service airline (seat choice, luggage) it was still around the $100 mark for the two of us without a “sale” being on for an equivalent to ... I’d say an ADL-SYD flight in terms of distance (fuel & employee-time used).

I used Aer Lingus/Stobart to fly from Edinburgh to Shannon and I thought that they were excellent fora low cost flight.

I have used Ryanair once to go from Lyons to napls and they were ok. But after all the horror stories I made sure that we were arrived and checked in early for the flight.
