The final stop on my trip was in LA. You can probably tell by now, I do quite like planes... As luck would have it, I landed in LA the day before the Miramar Air Show! Completely by luck. My good mate I was staying with is also a plane nut and had already planned a day at the air show.

I saw the blue angels actually perform the routine they were practicing a week or so ago in Pensacola. It was very different from a lot of the airshows I have been to in my younger days as you could actually get up close to the aircraft. It was very hot but a number of local craft breweries were set up to keep us refreshed. We were there on a week day before the hordes arrived and it was very relaxed.

My friend does a bit of flying as a hobby so we jumped in a tiny little plane one morning for a bit of a fly up and down the coast in LA - very cool :)

One of the last things I needed to tick off my list was to see the final shuttle which now lives here in LA. At the beginning of my trip I had no intention of visiting all of the remaining shuttles. I am a bit weird...

Having been away from home for a while there were a few food items I was craving. One morning we ended up at this pie shop :) It was a good pie - very unexpected.

Despite being in San Diego only a couple of days earlier, we headed back down here on the Sunday to visit the USS Midway and have a bit more of a look around. We started the day with breakfast on the beach at this beautiful little cafe called The Beachcomber Cafe. It was a truly lovely way to start a Sunday morning :)

On the way down the coast we stopped to have a look at this old shack before the developers knock it down. It was in some movie in the eighties that is probably responsible for my love of planes...

We ended up down at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on our drive. It was a beautiful spot. The scale of it all, like most military cemeteries, was humbling :(

Eventually we arrived at the USS Midway. Another excellent museum. It was a very hot day and we were there after lunch so crowds weren't too bad.

Sadly, that brings me to the end of the trip... To sooth this pain I was flying CX F LAX-HKG. I had the whole F Cabin to myself. It was very surreal. I tried just about everything on the menu and even managed to squeeze in a few drinks.

I had one night in Hong Kong before my QF J flight back to BNE. I flew this flight last year and at the time thought it was the best flight I had been on. After the crazy flights on this trip, it is way back in the pack now.

EuroTrash '18 has been booked and planning is in full swing - the only way to get over those post-travel blues :)
