GLT to get a lounge

What scheduled commercial flights does ROK handle on these aircraft.

An aircraft needing to divert does not count. I cannot see why GLT needs to extend a runway to handle 747s and 777s just so they can handle diverted traffic once in a blue moon. Or is it a case of big brother jealousy?

Perhaps they are hoping QF will schedule 737s to operate the milk run but I have not seen anything significant that would even remotely require a 737 to operate the milk run.

No one is saying they need 747s or 777s, thats just what ROK has (they average 10-15 scheduled flights a year and they appear on the board at SIN when they are on). GLT wants JETS, mainly Fokker 100 and eJet so they can have more competition and also serve longer range destinations like direct Sydney and Adelaide.

GLNG = Santos = Adelaide HQ

Really? Well that is one I had absolutely no idea about.

Is there justification for direct flights from SYD/ADL-GLT? Once a day? Once a week?

Depends on the work force etc, GLT has had high real estate prices for a while, FIFO may well be the only way to allow a workforce to do its job for GLNG, I am not an expert on such matters but the council believes it needs jet traffic.

Thank you - I really do appreciate this.

Any other photos desired of Gladstone, let me know.

Haven't read all the posts yet but the runway is not only being lengthened BUT also widened to meet the new international regulations. Pity the Commonwealth Govt isn't funding ANY of that.

Departed from Gladstone today and can report the QF lounge is now open. A shiny and new space with facilities/ catering in line with other regional lounges. Don't forget to ask for the keypad entry code at check in. Nice job QF. Very nice with great views airside.

Is TMW getting a lounge too? The airport terminal is being expanded.
