This got me thinking and it's very confusing. No idea. Never travelled JQ. But I’m guessing seat pitch to start with ……
I've travelled QF, VA and JQ domestic quite a lot over the years. If I'm not mistaken QF 737 pitch is 30in, VA 737 pitch is 30in and JQ A320 pitch is 30in but on average can also be 29in. I've always thought that QF was more comfortable than VA and then JQ but all 3 are more than acceptable. Note last week travelled ADL-BNE on VA all economy config and in row 6 I could stretch out and not touch the seat in front and that felt great.
I've also done AirAsia and more recently Nok Air quite a lot domestically in Thailand and their aircraft feel more cramped. Nok Air is listed as having 30in pitch but seats are very tight and in row 2 earlier this month when the seat in front reclines the headrest is close to my face. It's also very difficult to get my legs under seat in front without being uncomfortable and I'm only 5'9" so someone taller is going to struggle.
The cramped room also made my panic attack feel much worse to the point where I'm now scared of stepping aboard these aircraft again and I'm seriously looking at bus/train for Bangkok-Chiang Mai.
How can all these aircraft list seat pitch as 30in but have varying levels of comfort. Seat width needs to be considered but also the thickness of the seat but what experienced on Nok does not feel even remotely close to 30in.
