Good J prices: EY MNL-Europe rtn

Some QR flights 'ex Asia' are its B777s with 2-2-2, but lacking direct aisle access from window seats that WY has on its B789s.
Multiple QR trips ex CGK and not had the 2x2x2 at all. Mostly A359 - so yeah, no QSuites either.

Travelling with someone, I wouldn’t get too upset with the old config. Actually plenty of space.

Fair enough, but I rarely travel with anyone.

Not neccesarily because I couldn't, but my spouse and I have carer duties, so someone really needs to stay home pretty much all the time.

But then she goes of with her friends and I'm left to man the barricades.

Works well for us at the moment, but if/when circumstances change we'll be off travelling together, but probably not on one of those old, coughpy QR 777's (unless the price is very right).

If it's a route that QR operate both Qsuite and non-Qsuite aircraft, and you book Qsuites, then get Qatared (I hope this makes sense), they'll offer a fee-free change.

Any good ex MNL deals in May?
According to ITA Matrix

EY J*
ATH A$3,089
FCO A$3,171
LIS A$3,299
BCN A$3,365
FRA A$3,379

Bunch of others sub A$3.9k and you can open jaw between them.

QR is about A$3.7 ex MNL for ATH and FCO

*beware, these could now / soon be un-bundled fares - I didn't delve into the specific fare buckets

You can also open jaw using LHR. Flying in to it and out of a European airport avoids the UK air passenger duty, a massive tax.
Yes, but neither LHR / LGW was coming up with a sub A$4k price on an open jaw*, so I left it off the “cheap” list. But definitely something to consider if LON is on the must visit list.

*usually when I search on ITA Matrix, rather than force the Open Jaw ie Multi-city search - fly into xx_ and other nearby ports in same country / depart from YYY and other nearby ports in that country. I just do a return search, say CDG and then a bunch of nearby cities all over Europe / UK and see what pops up.

The cheapest fares to "Europe" ex MNL tend to be to IST, Which is pretty convenient IME. If you want to fly further afield there are many LCC's ex SAW, and some good deals ex IST on legacy airlines. I have done this several times and would do it again if the price is right, and I also do like a few days in Istanbul.

I also find Milan seasonally to be one of the cheaper options. I use google flights map view using Europe as the destination good for seeing any cheap flights at a glance. Zoom in to see more options appear.

If you’re going to “Europe”, I suspect you can do quite well flying further west. Maybe go west and work your way back to IST (I don’t, usually include IST (or ATH) in my Euro searches.

Ah, I left MXP of the search (amongst others…) but must play around with that map view more. I otherwise don’t like Google flights because the “nearby”’airports function is limited more than ITA Matrix.
