I am a member of ANA Mileage Club, purely for the online access to star alliance award availability.
However, the other day I was looking around their website, and aside from star alliance members, noticed it has a good array of "independent" airline partners, including:
- Etihad
- Qatar
- Malaysian
- Jet
- Eva
- Virgin Atlantic
- Shenzhen
With MH, EY & QR, this maybe good option for those who travel occassionaly beyond the shores of Australia, but not enough for any meaninguful status, and don't want to lock themselves into one particular alliance (thinking of those who have regular trips to Europe - it therefore includes MH, SQ, TG, EY, VS, QR, OZ as potential options).
I guess on the flipside UA Mileage Plus have both EK & QR - good alternatives also.
The other one I came up with was Jet Airways "Jet Privilege" - which includes AF, NH, AA, OS, CX, DL, EK, EY, KL, LH, MH, QF, SA, LX, TY, UA & VS ... certainly good in both directions from Australia.
Any others?
