A good news story of security screening staff.
Recently, +1 noticed her glasses were not in her carry on where she believed she left them. This occurred whilst we were standing in the scrum of POM Domestic check in. She vowed and declared she had put them in an elastic sided pocket when she got out of the hotel transfer bus (a pocket I had only the day before advised her not to use as it risked damage and/or loss).
Of course this was a tragedy as she needs them to read, so while she rummaged about her carry on looking for them, I went back to the screening area to see if they had been handed in. Firstly I had trouble getting one of the security staff to understand what it was I was looking for, but then another gentleman came over and understanding the situation, said he would check the x-ray machine.
Much to my surprise, he started to dismantle the thing, while it was still in operation! Then he climbed down on all fours to check under it. Further surprising me, he looked up at me from the floor and gave a "thumbs up"!
He grabbed a broom and retrieved said missing glasses from well under the machine. I thanked him profusely and returned to a very relieved +1!
So congrats to the POM screening people, for going that bit further and allowing +1 to read her multitude of books!
