Not sure how long the Skywest redemption information has been up on the Velocity website but it looks like good value to me - especially for the shorter flights. For example Perth-Esperance for 4200 points (base fare is $123) - 2.9 cents per point.

So you only need to spend $840 on Virgin (assuming no status, 5 points per dollar). Alternatively earning 1.5 points per dollar on Amex and then using the 50% bonus offer on transfers that's about to end and you only need to spend $1866 on anything.
