Received email from Jet Star early hours of Monday April 30 stating my return flight JQ774 Mel-Ade 0855 cancelled due to weather. Tried to book later Jet Star flight but non available. Checked Qantas and all Adelaide flights Business Class only. No option so booked the cheapest $734 dep Mel 0840, weather no problem for Qantas. Arrived Tulla 0645. Clear, fine morning no wind perfect flying conditions. Observed Jet Star flights operating along with all domestic and international carriers. Upon return had on-line chat with Jet Star. Will receive voucher to value of return flight. Queried the weather issue but not much sense in return. Still puzzled.

Has been observed and noted before. Low yield flight, other op reason - blame the weather.

So, they gave you the voucher without much argument?

Vouched first offered at service desk Ade airport. On line rep confirmed voucher in system but seemed surprised.

This kind of thing is one of the reasons I no longer fly Jetstar. If they need to cancel a flight, then so be it. But for them to (a) not offer a suitable alternative flight, and (b) only give you a voucher for the value of the Jetstar fare when you had to pay $734 for a new ticket, is very poor IMHO! I bet you didn't pay anywhere near $734 for the original Jetstar fare.

By the way, you are entitled under ACL to a refund - not just a voucher.

Will check it out. The fare difference between both flights less than $100.
