Any big-name websites people could recommend, so far I can find flightcentre.com.au (fairly useless) and STA travel (similarly useless). Is there something as good as Expedia or something in Oz?

I haven't really found that prices on the Australian web sites vary that much. Having said that I rather like zuji

I have to disagree with you on that statement. Only last week I perused 5 different sites, and for the exact same flight got 5 prices, lowest being $120 less than the highest.

And that on a flight costing only $840! (lowest quote)

Maybe I should have put in the YMMV disclaimer :)

Personally, I have never seen such a variation, but don't doubt that it could happen.

Here's two more to add to the research list.

www.webjet.com.au
www.harveyworld.com.au
:)

Zuji is fine if you want a simple flight like Perth to London via Singapore return but if you want the return journey via a different route like Japan or USA then they are not able to book it. There computer system does not allow this. I thought this was strange since all travel agents can do this but they said it is impossible for them to do it.
