Goodwill status retention non-existent

I don't understand why OP is saying Im not going to book with you/spend money with you but Im disappointed that youre not going to give me something for free and Im not entitled to it.

Not saying that - I have been loyal to VA for many years (Plat always). This year didn't make the 8/8 VA flights due the reasons I documented and I was dropped down to Gold. As it is VA is always more expensive than SQ on the same flight. Add in the seating pain and it's annoying to say the least.

My partner and I work the platinum points by sharing. Fortunately his accrual date is January and mine is June.
We just get the 800 Sc's personally and then contribute to the other's account. There is no point getting more than 800.
We also of course make sure we each do 8 sectors "bums on seats".
Used to do the Busselton run if necessary. Really good deal in Flexi 40Sc's
Now it would have to be Geraldton or Adelaide so long as we can get back in a day.

We usually buy flex and use the upgrades for Perth to Syd. Its worth it.
Interested in this row 3 thing as we are going Syd to Queenstown in December. Ive noticed there is a lot of legroom in 3 so we have booked 2 aisles (im not sitting in the middle!).
Is it only platinum that can get these, not gold?

Also what is the deal with the taking a holiday/break from the points for one year. If you do this do you retain your status even if you dont fly enough?
And then get flying the following year.

I've found the SQ seating pain occurs regardless of which airline you book with. If I book the VA codeshare I just get the SQ PNR from help desk and ring SQ and they are more than happy to help.

Also as *A SG I have issues also selecting seats on SQ flights, for some reason they only open up a small amount of seats for advanced selection, the rest you have to wait until 72 hours before checkin

Comp upgrades have been less and less valuable to me with the flex fare restriction.

Although I did previously use them on PER trips.

Flex CNS-MEL-PER is quite reasonably priced on VA.

Row 3 - sure, depending on how far out you're booking that may not be a huge benefit.

And as a Gold I have a very high success rate of getting row 3 anyway.

I should have inserted the word "practical" into my sentence.

But until such time as VA reveal their program enhancements (which I am confident will improve the premium offering), I see very little to no value in pursuing WP over SG.

Having spent the last 6 years between SG and WP, last year I spent the extra to get WP, and TBH, I didn't find it worth it at all. I thought I'd miss it when I dropped to SG, and I don't.

So if the point is to get me to increase my marginal spend to obtain WP - then VA is not succeeding.

I'm also finding that their prices are more in line with QF's nowadays yet the product doesn't match (and has lost its mojo from a couple of years ago).

Back on-topic, to the OP, go hit your sectors, requalify for WP, and accept that if you want WP you have to meet the published requirements....even if it costs more.
