Grange in the F lounge

Wow!! Looks like it was being served in the F / P1 / CL section of the lounge? Any idea how many bottles?

Looks like someone at QF found the cellar at Mascot and decided to liberate a couple of $10 bottles of Penfolds they got at BWS back in 2000! 😂

Just 1. And yes, only in that section… at 9am. Wasn’t planning on having red with brekky.

No one plans to have a '97 Penfolds Grange, but when the opportunity arises you don't look a gift horse in the mouth!
If this ain't the motivation to get P1, I'm not sure what else is .... 🤣🤣
Or flying QF F for that matter!

I know you are joking ... but if you ever find Grange at $10/bottle ... Please PM me ;)
I did know many moons back someone who got the opportunity to buy bottles of Grange for $50 per bottle. The only issue was labels and slight packaging issues. I would like some NQR packaged Grange :).
Better suits my budget..

Might of been a scenario of

Sally: "Hey Barry we are pumped right now and understaffed, I know its your first day here, however can you go get a nice cheap red from the Penfolds range, from the storage area that we showed you earlier today?.

Barry: "Sure thing"

Barry:"Hey Sally I have got what you asked for and took the liberty to open the Penfolds Grange for the customers"

Sally:"You what?? oh well"

I bet they've just opened a single bottle once so they can say in their marketing and social media that look, Grange is served in the F lounge.
There was a 2nd bottle in MEL…

I've managed to get some incredible Bordeaux reds in Emirates First Class Lounge. They have an amazing concept where they bring all the open bottles from their flights into the lounges

You do unfortunately get a lot of 'business class' wines in the first class lounge but I'd say for a lounge they serve incredible drops

Does anyone else know if other airlines do the same concept?

As a P1 and even travelling in F I have never been escorted to the roped off area. I'll be insisting next time....
And I'm not a P1, but I can say that in the times I have been in the F lounge, I have not seen anyone getting escorted into the red roped off area ... I did see someone sitting there in one of my trips (assuming they were escorted) ... Also I think the lounge team could be aware of the equipment in use on the day .. say IME, most of the AM departures until 1030 are on the A330s or B787s with no F class ... so the lounge team will know that the roped off area will never be used until say a particular time? Just guessing here ...
