Green Tier Bonus and Lifetime SCs

Anyone know whether the 50 SCs you can get from Green Tier contribute to your Lifetime tally?
I've been burnt previously where promotions have added them to the yearly count but not the lifetime count.
The T&C don't make any particular mention of it that I could identify.

Anyone experienced this either way yet since the Green Tier introduction?

Thanks bullderdude.

Have selected the SC option and can confirm that you are correct.

They also came through almost immediately!

One thing to keep in mind is using the Green Tier it's possible to accrue up to 100 status credits in a program year by simply qualifying for the Green Tier during the month your current program year ends. Then when you receive the bonus email, activating your status credit offer in the new program year. From there you can re-qualify for Green in the new status year to earn the additional 50 status credits. A similar ploy can be used for those crazy enough to earn 500 status credits flying QF/JQ in a single year too!

I say all of this since, it doesn't take much to re-qualify for QF status if your program year ends this year as one flight with QF booked from March 1 will guarantee status rollover for another year. Hence, it's possible to earn 150 status credits for the next program year (when you do need to actually earn SCs) with "fairly" minimal work (I say fairly because those of us who gained 500 SCs this year flying JQ/QF would've had to book all those flights prior to QF announcing the extension).

Do we know this for sure? (i.e. has someone actually done it?)

I'm interested to know if any of the green leaf categories carry across years - particularly the sustainability quiz which seems to have disappeared from my Wellbeing app after having completed it once. If that leaf doesn't carry across it would mean a yearly stay in a (relatively expensive) ecohotel to qualify for green, which may make the proposition far less attractive.

My year rolls over at the end of May. I have earned Green tier but the expiry of that is May 2023 so I don’t see any way of double dipping with SC there.

When did you qualify for Green tier? Per the T&Cs:
Qantas Frequent Flyers who have achieved Green tier status are eligible to earn their choice of one (1) of three (3) available rewards. The option to select a reward will appear in My Account 21 days after the member has achieved Green tier. The choice of 10,000 Qantas Points or 50 Status Credits or three tonnes of Carbon offset must be made within 90 days of achieving Green tier status. Limit of one reward per individual per Membership Year.
My reading of the term is that if you qualify for Green tier just before your year expires and wait to redeem the bonus in your new program year (supposing those 90 days straddles the two program years) you'll earn 50 status credits in that new program year. Then for the new program year you can re-qualify for Green status again and earn 50 status credits in that new program year. This was how the QF/JQ loyalty bonus for flying 500 SCs with them worked and I don't see how it would be any different for the Green tier given the T&Cs.

I just earned it in early April and haven’t yet selected my reward.

Supposing you've re-qualified for your status it probably makes sense to wait till the new program year to use the status credits, that way it counts to that program year when you likely need to earn status credits to re-qualify (I doubt Uncle Alan will be as generous with status support looking further down the track). Yours truly has already got a status extension for this program year having made and taken several flights on QF in March (my program year ends at end of November), so the plan is to rack up 150 status credits by combining 2 successive years of Green tier status combined with the loyalty bonus having travelled 500 SCs on JQ/QF. When combined with the 480 SCs I'll earn on SYD > AKL in January 2023 and the 40 SCs on SYD > CBR in December this year, I'll easily have enough to re-qualify for Gold through November 2024.

You can earn the QF/JQ loyalty bonus multiple times within the one year. It also only has one criteria (500SC on QF group flights) whereas the Green Tier has several criteria, some of which may/may not reset each year.

It's too early to tell simply from the T&C whether it will work the way you are expecting - we need more members like Princess Fiona to report their experiences.

Out of curiosity - have your 5 leaves reset so you can accrue green tier for the following (thru to May 2024) membership year?

Doesn’t completely help answer your question but I’m and end of March anniversary.

I qualified last status year and selected the 50SC this year. These posted as expected.

My green leaves turned a carbon like grey ;) a few days after the anniversary.

I’ve since offset a flight (~3 weeks ago) and I’m yet to see a green leaf.

I’ll wait out the period stated in the Terms* before calling.

And there’s no quiz in my health app either.

Good to see one can select which program year to get the SCs posted to - I reckon many folks will opt to get them used in the following program year given the status extension most elites will be getting this year.

It's equally good to see the leafs turning grey upon a new program year. I would be curious why the offset hasn't posted. Perhaps email QFF to find out? In terms of the quiz in the health app, one thing I would suggest trying is signing out and signing back in again. This might force the app to "see," that you haven't completed that survey yet.

Here's to hoping that the gimme that is the QF wellbeing survey remains next program year!

Just past the April anniversary now and indeed the leaves have turned blank again. Still got the 'benefits' until next year.

Eligible to start doing activities for 50 more status credits but waiting on the Green tier quiz to be refreshed.

Do green tier SCs roll over with the current status support program?

Just started out flying with Qantas with a QFF number but for Points Club rollover yes it counted. Not sure about the status support

My data point as a 31 March anniversary:

- Completed the green challenge in March
- Pick my reward in April, posted immediatly, count toward my current year.
- current green status says I am green till 31 March 2023 which makes sense.
- already got the carbon offset green leafe to requal, 4 to go.

So I hope to be able to get the 2x50 sc in my current year, Finger crossed the green quizz will reappear at some points.

Got my five green leaves a few weeks ago, but did not choose my reward (50 SCs) until yesterday as my membership year expires 30 April and I preferred to have the status credits count towards this membership year.

The status credits came through almost immediately, and on the website I now have 5 grey leaves which suggests these have "reset". (On the Qantas app on the other hand it still shows 5 green leaves and the option to choose my reward, which I already did yesterday, so the Green Tier details on the app and the website have obviously not yet synced.)

The "Green Tier achieved" message bar states that my benefits are accessible until 30 April 2023.

I have just gone used the Rewards Store to buy a $25/3200 QFF point charity redemption and a 130 QFF point "make a (climate) positive contribution" item. Will update this thread if and when two of my grey leaves turn green as a result, which should confirm that it is possible to get 2 x 50 SCs for achieving Green Tier in a single membership year. (Though in my case it will also require the quiz to come back as I don't intend to buy wine or stay at an eco lodge.)

edit: Just noticed that my post is essentially a long-winded repeat of ChrisMars' post immediately above. *sigh*

^ Further to the above, my Green Tier status bar is now showing 1 green leaf for this year. Weird, as there should have been two: one for the climate positive contribution and one for the charity redemption, assuming I didn't stuff something up.

I hit the Green Tier about six weeks ago and chose the 50 SCs. As expected my SC balance (for both this membership year and my lifetime balance) went up by 50, however there is nothing showing on my Activity Statement.

Just curious if anyone else has found this?
